Key Responsibilities:
Requires a thorough knowledge of general building maintenance with emphasis on electrical solving, including AC & DC circuits, high voltage (480), high amperage and some 400 cycle equipment
Requires experience in industrial wiring and the ability to read and follow wiring schematics and work without supervision
Journeyman electrical license a plus
Requires the ability to make low and high voltage repairs to all building electrical equipment
This includes solving, installation and repair of 110/220/480 volt single and multiphase electrical circuitry and devices
You should also have some experience in related building equipment and trades, such as air handling units, plumbing and steam fitting, fire systems and conveyors
Facilities Technicians must be able to work around the clock shifts, including weekends and holidays, in the outdoors in all weather conditions
Schedules are bid and awarded according to seniority
Facilities Technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT)
Salary increases will be administered according to the current IBT/United contract
New employees are required to join the union within ninety (90) days of employment

Performs a variety of routine, manual labor tasks and operates light motorized equipment

Job Summary
The Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants for Systems Maintenance Technician I positions within the Facilities Support Division.
The successful candidate will work closely with technicians or crew chiefs and will:
* Assist by having materials, tools, and equipment ready as repairs progress
* Assist with demobilization and cleanup when repairs are completed
* Respond promptly and directly to work requests
* Diagnose, initiate, and complete minor mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs in County Government facilities
* Receive and close out work requests by computer and/or hand-held electronic device
* Inspect facilities and report HVAC, plumbing, and electrical problems or unsafe conditions
* Keep vehicles fully stocked with appropriate tools and materials
* Must provide superior customer service at all times
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of related work experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, automotive, and/or security system trades; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
Successful candidates will undergo pre-employment criminal, credit, and DMV record background checks, to include Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprinting.
Valid driver's license and good driving record are required (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).
Hold or obtain CFC license within six (6) months of hire. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and lift up to 70 lbs. Some work may be hazardous due to location or type of work. Subject to recall or being held beyond scheduled workday. Must be available to respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive.
