This experienced relationship manager develops, builds, and manages a highly-valuable portfolio of prospective and current donors in order to meet Compassion's annual revenue goals. He/she strategizes and builds customized engagement plans and strategic efforts to engage high-value donors and prospects with Compassion's ministry objectives.

What will you do?
Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintain a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully uphold Compassion's ministry in prayer.Act as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ's mandate to protect children. Commit to and prioritize child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abide by all behavioral expectations in Compassion's Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Report any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion's internal reporting process and appropriately support responses to incidents if they occur.Uphold and engage in Compassion's core Cultural Behaviors.Serve as a leading relationship manager in a professional fundraising environment with particular emphasis on qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a complex and dynamic portfolio of approximately 100-125 highly valuable donors and constituents of Compassion's ministry. Actively advance growth along all product lines and is accountable for achieving revenue goals established by leadership.Creatively craft and customize unique, complex fundraising and cultivation activities/campaigns targeted to high-value donors for the purpose of generating revenue, increasing retention, identifying prospects, and acquiring multi-year commitments of non-sponsorship revenue.Advocate on behalf of Compassion's ministry of Christian child development to audiences such as current and prospective major donors, constituents, foundations, etc. Develop and execute on strategy to drive engagement and build strong relationships with portfolio of donors through regular personal visits, phone calls, proposals, presentations, and other correspondence.Set multi-faceted large scope fundraising forecasts. Founded in 2002, Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive, not simply struggle to get by, in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. Operation Homefront is sourcing candidates for a Manager, Individual Giving position. This is a remote position that can be located anywhere in the South Central or Southeastern United States.

The Manager, Individual Giving is responsible for developing strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors in eight states within the South Central and Southeastern portion of the United States (Special focus is on five-figure gifts to support Operation Homefront’s programs and $100M Comprehensive Campaign). This position has direct impact on the organization’s reputation among Individual Donors, Foundation & Corporate sponsors, as well as impacting the financial and operational performance of the department.

Desired candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience securing and conducting significant donor interactions, particularly personal face-to-face visits, on a regular basis to qualify, engage, solicit, and steward major donors and prospects

  • Complete all paperwork and processes associated with major gift & campaign gifts and pledges.

Other Details:

General office and sedentary. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 20 pounds. The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (“NHMLAC”) was the first museum in L.A. to open its doors 108 years ago and is poised for an exciting new era as it plans for the future. Having recently completed a new strategic framework, the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County—including NHM at Exposition Park, La Brea Tar Pits and museum in mid-Wilshire, and the William S. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Develops and stewards a robust portfolio of individual, annual, and campaign donors and prospects for major and planned gifts.
  2. Creates and executes customized solicitation strategies based on strategic objectives of the Museum and the interests of the donor, including the involvement of CAO and Director of Major and Planned Gifts, as appropriate.
  3. Develops and manages a pipeline of Trustee prospects with the goal of regularly presenting highly qualified Board candidates for consideration by the Board Affairs Committee and the full Board of Trustees.
  4. Contributes to an ongoing engagement program and approach that includes in-­person and phone contact, as well as electronic and print communication to maintain and deepen donor relationships. As appropriate, coordinate communication approaches with other Advancement staff.
  5. Stays abreast of developments and publications in donor relations, planned giving, as well as research, collections, and exhibits in order to convey such content to prospects and donors and develops strong relationships with Museum staff in these areas to match their content expertise and personalities to specific prospects and donors. Coordinates the scheduling of such meetings and prepares all parties as appropriate.

This position has the following requirements:

  • Communication: Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication.
  • Writing Skills: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, proposals and procedure manuals.
  • Presentation Skills: Ability to effectively present information to, and respond to questions from, internal and external constituents, including groups comprising donors, prospects, managers, executive staff, government officials, representatives of other institutions and other members of the general public.
  • Computer Experience: Has experience using a personal computer, MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); facile with Internet research and experience using nonprofit constituent relations management systems such as Raisers Edge, Donor Perfect, Millennium, or other similar systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
