Mike Tremmel is a Chief Financial Officer at Makena Capital Management.

Pascale Thomas is Deputy General Counsel and Deputy CCO at Makena Capital Management, LLC, where she advises the firm on U.S. securities law, corporate law, corporate governance and regulatory compliance. She also serves on the firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee and ESG Committee. Prior to joining Makena in 2018, Ms. Thomas served as Assistant General Counsel at Z Capital Group, LLC. Prior to that, Ms. Thomas was an attorney in the Investment Products & Derivatives Group at Sidley Austin LLP, where she focused on fund formation and related corporate an regulatory issues for a variety of U.S. registered investment advisers. Ms. Thomas holds a B.S. degree from Duke University and J.D. degree from Harvard Law School.

Larry Kochard is the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at Makena Capital Management. He is also a Managing Director and Management Committee member. Larry was previously the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO). As CEO, Larry provided leadership for all aspects of UVIMCO’s operations and served as UVIMCO’s primary representative to the university, related foundations, and the public.

In addition to being CIO of Makena, Larry serves on the board of Janus Henderson Group, Chairs the Investment Advisory Committee of the Virginia Retirement System, is on the board of the Virginia Environmental Endowment, is on the board of VCU Investment Management Co., and guest lectures and teaches investment classes at UVa. Larry is a former Chairman of The College of William and Mary Foundation Investments Committee. Larry is the co-author with Cathleen Rittereiser of Foundation and Endowment Investing: Philosophies and Strategies of Top Investors and Institutions. Featuring profiles of successful chief investment officers, the book was published by John Wiley and Sons in December 2007.

Larry holds a BA in Economics from the College of William & Mary, an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Rochester, an MA and PhD in Economics from the University of Virginia, and is a CFA charter holder. He is married and has four children.
