Job Summary: The Associate Product Manager is responsible for assisting in product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle of Makita's range of tools. This includes prioritizing between current products and new product development, continually gathering and defining “the voice of the customer” requirements as they relate to new product development, defining the product vision and strategy for a variety of end-user markets, and working cross-functionally with engineering, sales, operations, creative, purchasing, and customer service to ensure company goals are achieved. The Associate Product Manager, Tools will be expected to:
Ideate, participate and help define the product strategy and roadmap
Both assist with and lead market research, competitive product testing, and pricing analysis initiatives
Conduct ongoing product category research and identify trends, opportunities, and positionings for both current products and future product offerings
Produce competitive product analysis materials
Write effective product copy and specifications to be used throughout marketing collateral
Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional teams
Lead and manage the internal packaging design workflow for assigned products
Assist in launching new products to our organization through multiple mediums
Work with creative and channel teams in developing promotional campaigns
Help to create sales tools and marketing collateral
Track, collect, and manage online reviews of products and communication to user follow-ups
Prioritize between projects of various topics and complete those projects on time
Think creatively to develop solutions
Effectively communicate with both internal and external colleagues and partners
Present confidently and passionately in a variety of meeting and presentation settings
Be an expert for Makita and the competition
Act as a leader within the company
Both co-manage and independently manage product lines
Use power tools
Experience and knowledge:
Product Management experience is preferred, but not required
Self-starter, with the ability to work well independently and with others in a team environment
Excellent communication skills in person, on the phone, in writing, and on video calls
A solid understanding of the e-comm, retail, and industrial buying environments
Bachelor's degree in marketing or business-related field or equivalent related work experience
Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Bilingual a plus. (Spanish preferred)
Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time
Experience within the power tool industry is preferred, but not required

Essential Functions
Understand and follow CSI policies and procedures and assist with the following:
Managing document control and drawings
Obtaining necessary permits
Preparing submittals and shop drawings, and reviewing quoted items and commodities
Managing RFI logs and reviewing RFIs for cost impact
Managing POs, vendor tracking, and releases
Working with the lighting department on an as-needed basis to manage light fixtures, controls, and switchgear tracking logs
Working with the pre-fab department on an as-needed basis
Providing field foremen with information, material tracking, and other administrative functions
Summarizing and tracking time and material paperwork
Taking ownership and accountability for assigned tasks
Preparing reports and schedule review for Project Reviews
Preparing job closeouts and O&Ms

About the Role:

Essential Functions
Manage and direct multiple 3rd party design firms working towards Issued for Construction Drawings for Electrical, Civil, and Structural designs.
Coordinate and lead design reviews at each design milestone. Design reviews will likely include the owner, CSI, and 3rd party personnel.
Perform the overall coordination and integration of technical activities in engineering projects and services. Direct and review project designs and technology integration.
Work with project managers to facilitate design understanding as the start of construction occurs. Ensure there is understanding of the intent of the design and how the design will be audited throughout the construction phase.
Seek opportunities to add value to the project. Perform economic analysis/value engineering to determine cost-effective solutions and prepare written recommendations. Ensure value engineering is incorporated into future designs.
Manage 3rd party engineering resources to ensure deadlines are met, and the construction team has the necessary engineering information to produce a quality project on schedule.
Maintain and manage engineering schedules and budgets to meet the requirements of the project. Possess a full understanding of time and resource management to achieve the results needed for project deadlines.
Review and facilitate approval of materials to be used on the project by attaining Engineer of Record approvals or other resources available.
Ensure takeoffs are complete and accurate for material procurement.
Nurture and maintain key professional relationships with utilities, owners, engineering firms, energy subject matter experts, and others.
Coordinate, lead, and document regularly scheduled calls between applicable parties.
Assure projects are designed and constructed according to all applicable safety standards, including ASTM, NESC, NEC, NFPA, etc.
Ensure design deliverables are received in time to support procurement and project schedule.
Acts as a technical resource for project construction teams.
Acts as engineering liaison for the construction team, 3rd party Engineer of Record, Client, and internal engineering resources from award through completion.
Responsible for engineering document control process, including client and engineering transmittals, RFI's, and associated logs.
Apply for and complete local permits as specified by the contract.
Ensure that each design is developed with consideration for efficient installation, maintenance, and repair. Consult Field Operations Manager and Trade Superintendents as necessary for recommendations.
Review implications of project design changes and make recommendations
Recognize, document, and report cost impacts due to design changes. Share impacts with project management and procurement team.
Perform economic analysis/value engineering to determine cost-effective solutions and prepare written recommendations.
Train and develop Field Engineers and Field Coordinators in engineering management, document control, and RFI processes.
About You:
Qualifications
BS in Construction Management, Business, or Engineering.
Minimum of three years in the solar + BESS EPC, with a strong knowledge of construction sequencing, construction methods, and materials practices, including knowledge of electrical systems.
OSHA 30 certification desired, but not mandatory.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) status or qualified to take test desired, but not mandatory.
Can be a combination of trade, education, and relevant work experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio).
Database experience is a plus.
Experience with Primavera 6 and Microsoft Project scheduling software.
Positive and proactive attitude and ability to take initiative.

The position will work directly with both internal and external team members, to provide document review, coordination, and implementation during construction and commissioning.
Position Description
Ability to work and communicate effectively with the project team, subcontractors, consultants and owner representatives. Execute inspections with trade partners to oversee checklist and accuracy before and after inspection.
Familiarity with a broad range of general construction processes and nomenclature including testing laboratory protocols and procedures, soils and concrete testing, asphalt paving, structural steel and welding and general construction observations.
Methodical and detail-oriented to assist the project team in assuring that Project QC documentation are complete, and procedures are followed to ensure issues are closed and project risk is mitigated.
Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications including identification of errors or redundancies for resolution by others.
Mange equipment tracking tools by updating inspection statues and project workflows.
Conduct regularly scheduled quality and office/field meetings, review logs of Deficiencies, Punch List, etc., and provide documentation and meeting minutes.
Coordinate with trade partners for inspection paperwork, manage testing reports and train on software tools for best practices and consistency.
Create, document and distribute all checklists, inspections, completion lists, punch lists, and reports on the office side. Communicate to facilitate field activities required for issue completion, along with issue durations and due dates with trade partners.
Prepare weekly meeting agendas and lead weekly quality walks.
Work intimately with both office and field staff to understand the project schedule in order to execute the inspection process to support critical commissioning and energization dates.
Participate in Trade pre-installation meetings to verify that each Trade has an understanding of the Project's QC requirements before beginning work on site.
Monitor construction activities and review materials and equipment delivered to the project for adherence to specifications.
Ability to coach and mentor junior employees; seeking opportunities to grow in leadership roles.
Position Requirements
5-7 years of office or field construction focused experience on projects similar in nature, size, and extent.
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Proficient in MS-based software including Word, Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam, BIM360, Field, SmartSheet, etc.
Certifications preferred but not required:
