In March of 2018 at the age of 76, Big Mama was called home to be with Jesus.
A Virginia Beach man killed a teen who tried to steal drugs from him in 2018.
Her legacy of good food, community and second chances will not be forgotten as her family is committed to growing and expanding the rich heritage, she created for them with the relocation of the original restaurant to the Highlander Neighborhood in January of 2020.
In March 2020, Mama’s Kitchen began responding to a significant increase in demand in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
