Education : High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Graduate of ARRT-approved Radiography Program, required. Experience : One year experience in Mammography, preferred. Licensure/Certification : Certified and registered by ARRT in Radiography and Mammography - RT(R)(M), required. Certified and registered by ARRT in Bone Densitometry - RT(R)(M)(BD), preferred. Applicable state license, required. Additional Skills (required) : Analytical ability, basic computer skills, good communication skills, ability to adapt to procedures based on age of patient, ability to interpret information to identify each patient's requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs. Prepares patient for procedures. Operates Mammography equipment.

This Mammography Technologist will be responsible for the following duties:
-Performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers’ orders. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures
-Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed as well as risk factors and prevention. Demonstrates professional behavior/conduct in all interactions; fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes
-Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation
-Demonstrates competence in performing prescribed invasive/interventional procedures if applicable in accordance with established policies if applicable

REQUIREMENTS:
-Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited school of Radiology program
-Requires national certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensure by the state regulatory agency if applicable. BLS certification required
-Advance certification by accrediting body in specialty required within 18 months of hire if applicable

In collaboration with staff radiologists, this job assesses patients and safely performs advanced breast imaging procedures in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures and protocols. This job is a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

Education
Required - Completion of a formal training program in Radiologic Technology program in an AMA approved school

Work Experience

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association

Job Duties
• Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy
• Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care
• Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding
• Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol
• Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
• Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted.
• Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.)
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Other related duties as required.
