The incumbent in this position works under the general supervision of the H & G Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs manual cleaning tasks to agency facilities, buildings and properties. Mops, sweeps and buffs floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets; dusts furniture; cleans restroom, elevators, doors, lights, floors, laundry rooms and other common areas; washes glass doors and windows; washes walls; empties waste baskets and recycle bins; cleans compactor; cleans trash chutes and bins and places trash in outside receptacles. Performs minor building maintenance duties. Performs routine grounds-keeping duties to maintain the exterior grounds of agency facilities, buildings and properties including mowing grass, pulling weeds, planting and watering flowers, cleaning parking areas and painting parking lot lines, removing snow, picking up trash, etc. Uses various work aids and motorized equipment to perform the duties of the position including broom, mop, buffer, cleaning solutions, paint roller, screw driver, scraper, vacuum, mower, snow blower, etc. Receives work orders and general instructions related to the tasks to be performed. Determines the appropriate sequence, methods, and procedures necessary to complete the work. Estimates, secures adequate supplies, tools and equipment to complete work assignments. Maintains adequate inventory. Completes time sheets and other work records. Assists tenants by responding to emergency calls. Performs other duties as required. JOB REQUIREMENTS Knowledge, skill and experience in applying the methods, materials, procedures, and techniques used to perform custodial and general building maintenance work; skill and experience in the use of various hand tools, work aids and equipment necessary to complete the work.     Work Type: Part-time/Seasonal Nature of Work: This work involves monitoring the activities around a city swimming pool to ensure that patrons behave in a safe manner. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Competencies and skills: * Ability to monitor a large number of swimmers and others near the pool and detect unruly or dangerous behavior or improper attire * Ability to administer first aid and CPR * Ability to communicate with co-workers, program participants, and the public. * Ability to understand written and oral instructions Essential Functions: (Any one position may not perform all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all of the duties that may be performed in positions allocated to this classification.) * Monitors swimmers in the water and those near the water to enforce the rules of the pool and to ensure the safety of patrons. * Provides assistance to swimmers as needed, removing them from the pool and administering first aid and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). * Enforces the pool's dress code. * Assists in cleaning the pool and grounds. * Performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classification. * In addition to the functions listed above, the following duties will be performed by staff assigned to the program: * Swim Lesson Program: * Oversees Swim Lesson instructors at their designated pool. * Trains the Swim Lesson instructors at their designated pool. * Rec Swim League Program: * Receives training on coaching swim team (no prior experience necessary). * Provides coaching for a variety of age and skill groups. Special Qualifications: Must be a minimum of 15 years old. Must possess lifeguard, first aid, and CPR certifications. Must be able to work varied days and hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
