Our client is seeking a Perinatal Nurse Supervisor to oversee and direct nursing care and related activities according to policies and procedures of the hospital, in order to assure the highest quality of patient care possible; this person supervises all obstetrical and neonatal activities and total nursing care delivered within the Perinatal Department. This includes responsibility for environment, patients and materials and equipment control. Analyzes and evaluates nursing care in the LDRP, provides continuing education for all personnel and orientation for new personnel, and coordinates the various nursing services to meet the objectives of the department and the hospital. Identifies staff learning needs and collaborates with clinical and educational experts to identify resources to meet the needs of the staff. Must possess high degree of analytical abilities, strong interpersonal skills, an ability to work independently and show attention to detail. The incumbent is responsible for equipment and supplies as they pertain to department.
What your typical workday looks like:
Assist in various personnel functions including, but not limited to hiring, orientation, training, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, and schedules.
Assists the manager to identify, research, develop and implement an annual department specific education plan based on competency assessment, regulatory requirements and department goals and needs.
Acts as a consultant for employees and managers when educational issues arise. Serves as a facilitator by helping each individual identify learning needs and resources outside and within the facility.
Monitors effective and productive use of time and optimal utilization of skills and resources.
Acts as a resource in identifying and/or solving administrative/operational problems.
Coordinates patient care and carries out nursing and medical plan of care.

State of California Registered Nurse license required.
American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS and ACLS certifications required.
Fetal Monitoring and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required.
Minimum 3 years previous Labor and Delivery nursing experience required.
Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred.
Previous management/supervisory experience and specialty certification in any perinatal area desired.
