Position Summary:
Reports to the operations supervisor. Provide supervision, counseling, custody and control, employment development and coordination, and other related services in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) directives.
Essential Functions:
* Provide inmates with institutional rules, regulations, operational procedures and other information relating to the inmate's initial and continued adjustment to the institution; helps inmates learn problem solving techniques for their behavioral or social adjustment problems.
* Creates and maintains up-to-date progress reports for each individual inmate for the purpose of evaluating inmates' progress toward program completion.
* Maintains and initiates changes in inmate records; observes inmates to determine needs for referral to clinical services for psychiatric treatment or other supportive services.
* Conducts group orientation and employment skills sessions.
* Promotes reentry readiness by preparing inmates for participation in career readiness programs.
* Read, review, and properly apply information found in inmate records which is related to the inmate's health and safety and to the security of the facility; provide appropriate information to other staff on a need to know basis; comply with all policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
* Count, feed and supervise inmates in housing, work and other areas, which include climbing stairs.
* Provide custody and security of inmates including observation of inmates, which includes long periods of sitting and standing.
* Transfer and transport inmates by walking or riding in vehicles. Restrain and secure assaultive inmates as needed.
* It is expected the incumbent will work overtime when directed to do so.
* Regular and predictable attendance is required.
* Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
* Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
A minimum of a high school diploma/GED. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver's license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post Hire Requirements:
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.

Implementing evidence-based interventions by applying scientifically proven behavioral and educational strategies, promoting positive outcomes in academic, social, emotional, and independent functioning.

‖ Qualifications Required:
Master's degree or higher in applied behavior analysis, behavioral therapy, special education or a closely related field of study.
Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) credential.
Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an education specialist or special education instruction credential preferred.
Hold currently or have the ability to obtain a valid CA state driver's license.
Well-versed in applied behavior analysis (ABA) including positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), data-based decision making, and functional behavior analysis (FBA) and behavior intervention plans (BIP).
Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance, effective teaching strategies, classroom management, personalized instruction and working with students.

Behavioral Health Clinical Services
The Behavioral Health Clinical Service line includes a number of Behavioral Health clinics across the hospital system.

Provide, oversee, and/or administer a wide range of psychosocial evaluation/assessment, diagnostic, counseling therapy, crisis intervention, and/or case management services in a high-intensity clinical environment which requires a high degree of independent decision-making. Provide clinical training to provisional counselors/social workers, students, and/or interns engaged in related therapeutic/patient care activities, as appropriate to the individual position. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
ASAP: Outpatient substance use treatment center. Services include individual/group therapy and walk-in counseling. Clinic works collaboratively with psychiatry, medication management, medication for opiate use disorders, primary care and case management. In addition, we offer an Intensive Outpatient Program for a higher level of care.
Behavior Response Team: Completes assessments and provides brief therapeutic support in the Emergency Departments and on the inpatient medical floors, and teleservices and in the community for the Mobile Response Team. This team works with all ages. This program currently operates 7 days a week with evening hours M-F this role is a 4/10s schedule with one weekend day.
Crisis Triage Center: Intended to assist adults in our community with stabilization and to engage in support services so they can effectively transition to outpatient care and to prevent inpatient hospitalizations. Therapists are expected to complete intake assessments, safety planning, individual sessions, and to facilitate one group a day. This role is a 4-10s schedule with one weekend day.
Integrated Behavioral Health: This is an integrated care service delivery model to address problems identified during primary or specialty care visits that are negatively affecting the patient's medical concerns or psychological functioning. They will also provide consultation to colleagues about the role of mental health and illness in how to understand a patient's functioning in the medical environment.
Metropolitan Detention Center: MDC PSU Counselors, take crisis calls throughout the jail. Assess for all inmates needing mental health services upon arrival to the jail, provide clearances on housing units, assess for Suicidal Ideation. In addition, these clinicians provide individual therapy, run meetings with security weekly, and may do integrated care for those receiving methadone/Suboxone.
