    Chesterbrook Academy, a part of the Spring Education Group of schools, is seeking a dependable, hands-on Preschool Maintenance Technician to help maintain safe, functional, and welcoming preschool environments across several campuses in an assigned market. In this role, you'll be a trusted partner to School Leaders, responding quickly to maintenance needs, supporting preventative care, and coordinating vendor-driven projects that keep our schools operating smoothly. What You'll Do: Perform general building repairs, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, patching, and electrical work. Conduct routine inspections and walkthroughs to identify facility needs and safety risks. Support classroom and school operations by assisting with equipment setup, room configurations, and event preparation. Complete minor playground, landscaping, fencing, and grounds repairs. Monitor and perform preventative maintenance on key systems such as HVAC, fire suppression, alarms, and vehicles. Coordinate and manage all vendor and contractor activity on campus from initiating service requests and gathering quotes, to scheduling visits, supervising work on-site, and confirming completion and documentation. Build strong, positive working relationships with vendors, contractors, and school teams. Respond promptly to urgent maintenance situations, including weather events or building emergencies. Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and vendor visits. Source and procure maintenance supplies. Travel between assigned schools via personal vehicle; mileage reimbursed per company policy. What We're Looking For: High School Diploma or GED required; trade school or technical training preferred. Must pass all state-required background checks and maintain valid fingerprint clearance. Must be able to respond to occasional after-hours emergencies. 2-5 years of general building maintenance experience, ideally in schools, childcare, or multi-site environments. Physically able to lift up to 50lbs (occasionally up to 100lbs) and work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Customer-service mentality and strong communication skills. The technician will provide needed maintenance services to research personnel located on the main campus as well. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Perform routine, preventative maintenance on over 200 dental clinic operatories: including diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic failures. This involves calibrating dental equipment to ensure accurate results, replacing hoses, flushing water and suction lines, repairing and rewiring electrical lines, and cleaning biohazardous waste traps and sinks. Emergency duties are prioritized first, followed by routine maintenance procedures. The technician will respond to work order requests submitted via the online ticketing system and notify the requester upon completion. The SOU campus includes 175 acres of grounds, 140 of which are under active use and maintenance. Facilities Management maintains 21 major buildings comprising over one million square feet of building space. The department is staffed by approximately 45 full time personnel and is responsible for approximately 9% of the total campus budget. The Trades Maintenance Worker 2 performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in repair and maintenance of buildings and some equipment. Minimum Requirements Three years of general building maintenance experience in one or more of the following trade areas: carpentry, electrical, mechanical, painting, plumbing, and welding. NOTE: Some positions may require licensure or certification in a specific trade area. Preferred Requirements Valid Oregon Driver License Good driving record - must qualify to drive University vehicles. Three years maintenance experience. Experience coordinating or assigning tasks to a small team (4-6 people). Essential Functions Duties - The following examples are typical work activities that are meant to illustrate the general range of work functions and are not meant to be all-inclusive or restrictive: (25%) Duties Include General Building Maintenance Complete work orders for general maintenance in all campus buildings as assigned. Work includes but is not limited to plumbing repairs (sinks, faucets, toilets, urinals, supply lines, sink waste lines, snaking clogged drains, etc…), flooring repairs (VCT, linoleum, carpet, threshold strips, etc…), replacing ceiling tiles, repairing wall surfaces (stucco, drywall, etc..), paint (exterior & interior), concrete repairs, roofing repairs and other duties as assigned by lead or supervisor. (25%) Duties Include Preventative Maintenance Participate in preventative maintenance program for campus buildings.
