The Energy Service Associate will be the transaction lead and be responsible for identifying, analyzing and executing the revenue enhancing transactions (Short-term and Long-term) derived from market opportunities and analysis conducted with the Energy Services Market and Research Analyst. The primary role of the Energy Services Associate will be maximizing the value of the DA/RT value of the fleet and lead the effort to develop statistical/data driven decision tree delivering superior results. Due to the portfolio growth, Leeward will upgrade its Scheduling and Settlement System. The Energy Services Associate will be an integral part of the team leading the scope development and implementation of the system which will eventually be used to conduct all DA/RT transactions and settlements.

Additionally, the Energy Services will be leading the commercial and regulatory efforts to maximize the Capacity and Ancillary Services revenue from existing and future assets. The Energy Services will also be responsible for managing the REC portfolio risk (commodity and regulatory) and the execution/contracting of the associated transaction.

The Energy Services Associate will also be responsible for providing transaction/pricing support and risk analysis to the Development and Energy Services team for structured transactions and Basis assessments.

Lastly, the Energy Services Associate with the support of the Energy Services Market Analyst will be responsible for maintaining all supply/demand models, pricing models, risk reports (Energy, RECs, Basis, credit exposure) and budgets/financial forecasts up to date so as to be able to provide the senior leadership team with real time data.
Essential Functions:
Bid LRE assets into the DA/RT market per strategy developed to maximize value. Develop and maintain statistical model as it relates to Day Ahead and Real Time bidding for the Merchant Portfolio. Create and maintain long-term power market and price projections in U.S power markets of interest to Leeward. Provide asset specific price projections for investment, hedging and planning purposes. Lead scenario/risk analysis for potential transactions, PPA, hedges. Lead the development and provide market insights supporting project development and power marketing strategies. Develop and maintain market models, market data and model assumptions for the relevant commodities in the Leeward portfolio. (Energy, Capacity, RECs, Ancillary Services) Monitor power market outlook developments in U.S., and other power markets of interest to Leeward Provide advice and analytics to support project development, merchant hedging and budgeting. Work collaboratively with development, trading, strategy and operations Lead/support REC portfolio management. Key areas of focus include registry management, contract execution, counterparty invoicing, Green-E annual attestations, PPA obligation management, and working with Portfolio Finance on distributions spreadsheets, among other key tasks. Manage consulting/analytics subscriptions including but not limited to Ventyx, Genscape, Wood Mac, Yes Energy, Power World. Responsible for compilation and dissemination of Energy Services Weekly and Monthly Trading Summary reports. Lead the effort to update fundamentals/analysis with regular updates to weather outlook, transmission changes, ISO market policies, etc.
Qualifications:
4 to 7 years’ experience as an Associate/Analyst on an energy trading desk or IPP. Ability to analyze and organize data to drive solutions and action plans. Ability to develop, build and maintain models. Strong knowledge of Statistics and data modeling. Strong leadership, presentation and communication skills. Ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple information requests. Ability to work independently and lead a team. Ability to meet deadlines and organize work flows. Must hold Bachelors Degree in Business or STEM. Proficient with Exel, Power Point and Word Experience in R studio, Python, and other statistical models is preferred
Physical Demands:
