A security and safety manager is an individual who oversees occupational safety and security programs of an organization or a business and works to minimize injuries in the workplace, as well as reduce theft and loss of business assets. These management individuals are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all employees, as well as for customers and clients, by managing physical security operations. Security and safety managers make sure that an organization follows all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) safety rules and passes all required inspections regarding fire safety and worker safety.

Most security and safety managers have a bachelor's degree in security management, occupational health, and safety or a related field, and in some cases have experience in safety and security roles. These individuals should possess a broad knowledge of security and safety procedures, guidelines and laws, and must have strong communication, analytical, and management skills.

A security and safety manager can work in several different industries and can make up to $67,000 a year. This career field is projected to increase by 4% by 2028.
