Dr. Ellner is the President and CEO of Centura Health Physician Group, a 600 provider, employed multi-specialty group headquartered in Englewood, Colorado. He is a Senior Fellow with the Health Research Educational Trust and a member of the AHA Committee on Clinical Leadership. His work focuses on communication and culture change in the healthcare workplace to improve patient outcomes. He was Chairman and founding member of the Connecticut Surgical Quality Collaborative, a statewide, data sharing framework for all Connecticut hospitals to learn from one another using best practices. As an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Dr. Ellner created a four-year patient safety curriculum for medical students and a yearlong "Leading Surgical Quality" curriculum for the surgical residents. He has written numerous peer-review articles on the subject of patient safety and is considered to be one of the "50 Leading Experts" on the subject by Becker’s Hospital Review. Dr. Ellner holds a Master’s Degree in Health Care Management from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and has written case studies on surgical quality for the school to use as part of their curriculum. Dr. Ellner has appeared live on the Today Show, Larry King Live, NBC CT 30, NPR and has had articles in the CT Mirror, the Hartford Courant, the Wall Street Journal, Hartford Magazine, Hartford Business Journal, the HFMA e-Bulletin, Outpatient Surgery Magazine, Becker's Clinical Review, the American College of Surgeons Bulletin and the AHA Hospital and Health Networks Online Magazine for patient safety and health care quality improvement.
