CAD Technician

Pay Range: $40-$50 per hour W2 + Benefits
Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform assignments of a varied nature, requiring a solid understanding of the fundamental of CAD, mapping, and 3D modeling.
Perform work with general guidance and supervision or provide support to more experienced personnel.
Provide support to field staff.
Interpret field notes and sketches.
Perform technical computations and produce large scale, complex drawings.
Provide and gather data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features on or near the earth's surface for engineering, construction, and other purposes.
Assist in creating plans, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys.
Attend meetings as needed with Project Managers and Surveyors, in addition to clients and consultants.
Visit client facilities and/or construction sites as needed.
Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
High School Graduate or equivalent required.
Associate Degree and/or Civil Technician Certificate a plus.
2 or more years of AutoCAD experience, Civil 3D experience is a preferred.
Surveying CAD experience preferred (surface modeling, topographic drawing production, point calculations, etc.)
Experience with Revit, Three-dimensional CAD, and/or point cloud experience is a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Detail-oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites, and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
NOTE: This position will work primarily in the office, preparing drawings of data collected by field staff.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Operates computer-aided design (Microstation) system and peripheral equipment.
Assess the requirements of a project, break a project into tasks, and work with a Project Manager to determine scope of work, budget and staffing.
Strong understanding of bridge components, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
Provide technical drafting and design support for structural bridge projects in compliance with appropriate standards.
Produce detailed CAD drawings and construction documents for structural designs including retaining walls, culverts, and bridges.
Collaborates closely with structural engineers to translate engineering calculations and specifications into construction documents.
Develops details, geometry, elevations, reinforcement detailing, quantity take offs, etc.
Coordinates with multidisciplinary teams including roadway, drainage, survey and geotechnical.
Participates in QA/QC processes and resolving redlines to meet project deadlines.
Ability to manage a team and assess, manage and delegate work tasks to complete project on schedule and underbudget.
Analyze incoming material and develop drafting methods for most efficient production.
Assist in the education and development of design staff and act as resource for CADD related questions.
Confers with engineering and design staff to determine design modifications and ensures plan updates are completed accurately.
Maintains Quality control and assurance CADD documents per company or client requirements.
Act as BIM manager role for various projects, and assist and maintain the BIM Execution Plan.
Calculates figures to convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions specified for subsequent production processes.
Works from sketches, notes, and other input material to produce computer generated graphs, charts, overlays, and completed drawings.
Evaluate and support the provisioning of new software product releases, software licensing, and maintenance updates.
Follows company standard Microstation procedures for layering and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout. Suggest improvements to standard procedures.
What you will bring to our firm:
Associate's Degree or two-year degree is required
Minimum of 8 years of professional CADD experience
Experience managing workspaces for Tollway and IDOT project.
Experience in IDOT/Tollway bridge plan production and Freight RR experience.
Experience managing ProjectWise datasources and workspace integration.
Proficient with OpenBridge Designer Experience.
Preferred to have Open Roads Designer experience.
Experience with developing exhibits and renderings using ConceptStation

The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordination and oversight of geometric design projects.
What you'll be doing:
Provide assistance to engineers using OpenRoads Designer to create roadway plan sets and perform minor design work on roadway projects
Contribute to project production sheets by adding dimensions and laying out plans, title and detail sheets on production sets of plans
Prepare minor mathematical calculations and quantity calculations for roadway/bridge projects
Work with engineers to develop 3D models using both OpenRoads Designer
Research applicable design codes and guidelines to ensure design compliance
Research design options and documents findings
Coordinates assignments with project team and supervisor
Perform quality control reviews of design plans and calculations
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Be a team player and assist other groups as needed
What you need to have:
Associate degree from a technical or four-year school
Degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field is preferred
3-15 years of prior experience with roadway drafting
Under 3 years experience will be evaluated if applicant has a degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field
Experience in OpenRoads Designer is preferred
Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment

Job Title: CAD Technician I Job Location: 1301 Solana Blvd Bldg 2 STE 2500, Westlake, TX 76262 Primary Function:
Perform drafting duties using basic drafting skills and techniques for medium/high voltage substation or transmission line drawings. Assignments are closely supervised and are designed to develop the employee's understanding of drafting techniques, corporate/client standards, and procedures. CAD Technician's will either be dedicated to Electrical, Transmission, or Civil/Structural design projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
Revise CADD drawings per engineering markups
Perform engineering support tasks under direct supervision (e.g. transmittals)
Learn and apply the corporate/client standard of drafting and engineering practices
Learn and properly use document management systems
Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work
Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party
Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
Associate degree in drafting & design is required. A certificate in CAD drafting & design with relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an associate degree.
Possess skills in the following areas:
Experience with AutoCAD 2010 and newer is required.
Experience with Microstation preferred but not required
3D CADD experience preferred but not required
Basic drafting including drawing scales, drawing layouts (Paperspace/Modelspace), and accurately reproducing engineering markups
CADD, word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software
College level geometry
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with co-workers
Physical Requirements:
This position requires minimal physical effort.
Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year around weather conditions and noise.
Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%)
Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.

Job Title: CAD Technician
Job Summary:
The CAD Technician will perform a variety of duties related to the review and analysis of field and construction plan data, 3D surface modeling, plan quantity verifications as well as other survey functions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Working alongside other CAD team members, or independently, to generate accurate survey data for field crews and machine control systems.
* Tracking project RFI's, Change Orders, and Addendums while maintaining up to date field files.
* Documenting all CAD and plan errors for RFI's.
* Utilizing current CAD platforms, plans, and common sense to create 3D surface models, calculate bridge structures, drainage runs, utilities etc.
* Creating cut/fill reports and plotting exhibits for survey managers.
* Tracking time spent on projects for budgeting purposes.
* Creating roadway corridors.
* Preparing drawing with high precisions and as per scale.
* Creating and maintain project alignments, profiles, tie-ins etc.
* Utilizing COGO and other survey methodology (bearings - distances) to generate usable survey points, maps, 3D surface models and 3D line work.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Associates or technical school degree preferred.
* MUST HAVE AutoCAD Civil 3D & Trimble Business Center experience
* A minimum of 3+ years' experience in a survey technician role with the ability to create and maintain 3D roadway models and calculate all aspects of a civil construction site including bridges, walls, drainage etc. required.
* Survey experience in a crew chief type role is a plus.
* Ability to read and interpret construction plans for generating field layout data.
* Working knowledge of 3D surfaces, the ability run quantity reports and surface grade checks.
* Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines and requirements of a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision is mandatory.
* Accurately preform survey computations and mapping for roadway, drainage, utilities, bridges, walls and more.
* Candidate must have strong communication and organizational skills, be a problem solver, methodical, consistent, detail oriented, and precise.
* Ability to fully understand and follow highly complex oral and written instructions.
* Familiar with files such as LandXML, .csv, .dwg, .dgn, .ttm, .dtm, .tin, .vce, .vcl, etc.
* Knowledge of Bentley Microstation Inroads/Geopak Software.
* Knowledge of Trimble Business Center software and Site Positioning equipment both GPS and robotic total stations.
* Basic skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
* Bilingual is a plus.
* Heavy Civil experience, required.
* 3+ years' experience required in one or more of the following:
* Carlson Civil - Survey
* Bentley Micro Station
* Terra-Model
