Responsible for building relationships with potential and existing patients, patient education, and conversion of surgery leads to exam and surgery. To serve as a resource for patients and referring doctors, to provide superior patient care and service. Primary role consists of converting Lasik screening candidates to Lasik surgery outcomes, as well as converting cataract surgery candidates to premium lenses and refractive management packages, when appropriate. Meeting or exceeding a conversion percentage protocol set by Mann Eye Institute, and consultation and scheduling of other potential surgeries is required.
Responsibilities:
Perform patient education consultations on potential surgery patients and convert to exams/surgery in accordance with established protocol
Perform required testing in accordance with established protocol: Auto Refraction, Auto Lensometer, Pentacam, VAs, Chief Complaints, Interpret
Provide appropriate materials to patients regarding surgery
Inform, educate and add-on additional products and services offered
Document patient updates (closed and non-closed leads) in accordance with established protocol.
Schedule patient's surgery according to established protocol
Handle all scheduled patient follow-up phone calls, text messages, and emails
Follow-up on consult patients that have not taken the next step to book an exam/surgery in accordance with established protocol.
Educate and assist patient with financing options
Confirm surgery patients: confirm date, time, and surgical details
Coordinate refinement procedures
Maintain a professional office that is clean, free of clutter, and ensure you have an adequate number of patient educational materials

Your Role:
As an Ophthalmic Technician at Mann Eye Institute, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional patient care. Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting comprehensive patient history assessments, covering ocular, medical, surgical, social, and family aspects.
Measuring visual acuity for both near and distance vision, including pinhole testing.
Performing automated lensometry with precision.
Conducting preliminary eye examinations to identify normal findings.
Administering specialized tests such as Amsler, Stereo, and Color Vision Testing.
Performing Auto Refraction and basic manual refractometry.
Accurately conducting Applanation Tonometry.
Executing Fundus Photography with expertise.
Performing repeatable, precision-driven diagnostic testing.
Educating patients on eye care procedures and protocols.
Providing clear explanations of procedures such as Lasik and Cataract surgery.
Demonstrating basic scribing competency.
Identifying and discussing abnormal findings with the physician during Preliminary Exams.
Performing manual lensometry to determine power sphere, cylinder, axis, bifocal, trifocal, and progressive lenses.
Conducting intermediate refractometry with attention to detail.
Recognizing abnormalities during diagnostic testing and communicating them effectively.

POSITION SUMMARY
Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with established Federal, State and accreditation standards and ASC policies and procedures. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under his/her direction. Participates in direct patient care and maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment.

Circulator Role
: Performs scrub duties as necessary. Maintains count on sponges, needles and instruments to ensure no loss of items according to policy. Performs all circulating duties with efficiency. Supervises and assists scrub nurse as needed. Positions patient, prepares operative area, and adjusts table to proper position according to standard policies. Has all supplies and equipment in room and provides to team as needed. Opens all sterile packs and supplies according to aseptic technique. Assists Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, and other personnel as needed. Observes patient for changes in condition. Reviews Surgeon's preference cards for desired medications and verifies same with surgeon. Ensures all medications are administered and charted according to established policies and procedures. Identifies and records patient's response to medication when necessary. Cares for specimens and cultures as directed by set policies and procedures. Accompanies patient to PACU and gives report to Post-Op Nurse. Assists in control and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Records use of equipment and method directed. Checks rooms, material and equipment for proper care and handling. Ensures clean, safe environment through continued alertness to safety and aseptic techniques. Assists in control of traffic and personnel to ensure proper control of infection and asepsis.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required
Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state where work site is located is required
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
Must have at a minimum previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings: Operating Room (OR), Pre/Post-Op, Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC), PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical or Telemetry floors
Favorable result on background check required
