Job Overview
The Operator Manufacturing I is responsible for performing various tasks to operate and monitor assigned production equipment following established procedures and guidelines, while adjusting machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Performs necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on assigned equipment
* Operates assigned equipment and monitors equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops
* Communicates with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials
* Performs housekeeping and sanitations
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
* Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs., stand on feet for prolonged periods of time and climb stairs as needed
* Weekend work will be required, including some holidays as scheduled to support customer demand
* Equipment noise is elevated requiring the use of hearing protection
* Seasonal temperatures can be expected

CORRUGATED PACKAGING MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY
Full time corrugated manufacturing positions exist in the corrugated press and machine production departments at Massillon Container Company/Vail Packaging. For over 75 years Massillon Container/Vail employees have performed a variety of production, finishing or shipping related functions in a busy manufacturing and warehouse environment. Our drug free, diverse workplace requires individuals who understand the needs of the business while maintaining a focus on safety, quality, customer satisfaction, productivity and solid teamwork principles practiced during the workday with other members of the team! We work year-round regular shifts and have not had a layoff in nearly 25 years!
We work Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm in our union production area. Voluntary overtime is usually available for those employees who want the extra hours (time and a half paid after 8 hours). We occasionally require overtime, but ALWAYS with a minimum of 3 days' advance notice and never nore than two OT hours. Our employees have a generous full-benefit package, with minimal medical and dental premium contributions, 401k with 2% profit sharing contribution and employer match added every pay, vacation and 11 paid holidays a year! At MCC/Vail, we don't work on holidays, we just pay employees to enjoy their time off work with pay on those holidays!
Our open positions range from corrugated rotary press and heavy machine operators and press and machine helpers, press and machine utility workers who assist in all areas and our pay rates for our open positions range from $20.21 to $22.52 per hour with a 5% increase already slated for August. All positions require mechanical skills, heavy lifting and other physical demands. Experience working in production environments gives an applicant an advantage since employees in our open positions are setting up, loading board and running machinery. They are reading factory orders, accurately reading tape measures, gauges and other test equipment, utilizing basic shop math, inspecting, loading, counting and stacking products, and accurately reading and completing production and shipping documents and following directions.

You will set up and operate equipment in the facility. This includes working with blow mold presses and doing the assembly, testing, and any other duties that go along with producing our various tanks.

The facility manufactures poly glass pressure vessels, hydropneumatics pressure tanks, brine and water storage tanks which are commonly used in water purification systems, including water softeners and well systems for residential customers. You will read and understand standard work instructions, comply with safety standards and procedures as well as help maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Job Duties:
Winding tank liner with fiberglass strands that are coated with a mixture of resin and hardener.
Produce the liners and/or air cells using blow mold presses.
Removing excess flashing as parts come off the press, as well as quality inspection.
Offloading, assembling, filling, testing, and packaging tanks
Follow all 5S practices and supports lean activities, as well as safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
Position hours/shift (Overtime Available!):
1st shift: 6:45am to 5:15pm, Monday - Thursday
3rd shift: 8:30pm to 7am, Monday - Thursday
10% shift differential for 3rd shift
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements are standing, walking, twisting at the waist, lifting, and lowering weights up to 50 pounds. Steel-toed shoes are required.
Compensation:
The hourly pay for this role is: $17.50 to $21/hr. DOE. Opportunity for a rate increase after you are proficient in certain skills and have fulfilled training. Actual pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, and experience.
