It is the duty of all DTE team members to help maintain and improve a safe and healthy work environment at all times. ii. DTE will train you on required materials handling equipment, including forklifts, as needed. Additional safety training is conducted on an ongoing basis. iii. All safety issues should be immediately brought to the attention of your supervisor and/or the Safety Coordinator. Communication and Interpretive Skills i. Good communication skills are required to share information so that individuals and teams can perform their jobs properly. This is to ensure that everyone is on the same page and the manufacturing process is as effective and efficient as possible. ii. Team members must be capable of understanding inventory control systems for bulk materials and packaging. Must be able to follow instructions for production scheduling and finished goods output expectations. Physical Job i. Capable of lifting, moving and stacking boxes and bags up to 50 pounds through an entire shift. ii. Able to repeatedly bend, stoop and lift items from ground-level to above their head. iii. The Team Member should maintain a clean workspace and generally help maintain the cleanliness of the entire warehouse, including exterior areas and buildings. Work areas must be clean at the end of each workday to help minimize dust in the air. Inventory Duty i. Team members are an integral part of the inventory control process and help maintain departmental inventory and ensure accuracy of bulk goods and completed finished goods on a daily basis. ii. Team members are critically important members of the annual warehouse inventory team and are required to complete and maintain various aspects of the annual inventory process. Time-off must be scheduled around this mission-critical event. Truck/Container Unloading i. Team members will be required to assist loading and unloading trucks/containers. 1. Required Skills, Licenses or Certificates: This job requires the use of company-provided respirators. All job offers are contingent upon receiving respirator clearance . This position requires the person to be accurate in basic math and reading, writing, and speaking skills in the English language. This job requires the person to read and understand written instructions, verify quantities and product accuracy, and readily convey/receive instructions. This job also requires the person to work well with others in a team environment. The production team member must develop a complete knowledge of the Down to Earth fertilizer product line. Working Conditions: This is a physical job, and the Fertilizer Team member should be in good physical condition. The job requires good mobility and standing and moving for the entire shift. Physical exertion will require bending and lifting boxes and often stacking 25 and 50 pound bags onto and off of pallets to complete production schedules. Some operation of manual hand trucks, hydraulic pallet jacks, and forklifts will be required; training on required material-handling machinery will be provided by Down To Earth instructors. Environmental Conditions of the position: The Fertilizer Team member works both inside and occasionally outside the warehouse. This position is located in a warehouse that is neither heated nor air-conditioned and so the Fertilizer Team member should dress appropriately. Work clothes will often get soiled when handling boxes and products that are often dusty and soiled. Work Schedule. Generally, team members will work M-F, 5:00 AM. The normal workday is 8 hours with a 30-minute unpaid lunch period and two 15-minute paid breaks. During busy periods, overtime will be required, including weekends and evenings. General Attitude. Must be a team player with a positive and upbeat attitude that is supportive of DTE policies and processes and who takes pride in their work. Production Worker / Packaging Operator Qualifications/Education: * High School diploma or GED preferred. * Prior forklift and production line experience preferred. * Will require good eye, hand, and foot coordination. * Will need to pass the company forklift training. * Required to read and interpret scales. * Requires mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to adjust the weight and timing of baler and various other simple maintenance problems. * Requires the ability to do simple math calculations.
