What you will be doing: Safe and efficient operation of assigned Fork Truck for use in handling bales, boxes, racks, bins, equipment, scrap rolls, etc. from one area of the plant to another. This also involves driving in the wastepaper area among other vehicles. Must be licensed by Sonoco or the designated agent. Sorting/Grading items to type for baling Unloading 53' (or like) Van Trailers consisting of baled and containerized material. Able to properly weigh, grade, and stage unloaded material. This includes the operation of cameras / smart devices to track non-conforming material. Stack and place pallets in designated area (maybe staged trailer) Maintain, complete, and turn in all unloading manifests to assigned personnel. Load outbound trailers / export containers with designated material for shipment to consuming mill. Complete trailer / container inspections. Check to ensure all material loaded meets required specifications. Understand and implement required loading patterns to maximize weights while staying within legal limits. This requires an understanding of different bale types and loading patterns. Move and stage material within the plant. Catching and properly stacking bales in designated areas. Dumping of loose materials from Gaylord containers into appropriate bunkers. Inspect equipment daily for safe operation. Record findings. Perform Daily PMs in accordance to Sonoco's Maintenance Excellence standards. Willingly participates in Sonoco Recycling's 5S standard. Stacking of Pallets. Use of hand brooms / rakes / etc. to clean around docks or designated areas of the plant or trailers. Picking up debris from the yard or perimeter of the property. Be held accountable for assigned area of the plant. Assist in cleaning conveyor pits, behind baler rams, and around the baler area. Must be proficient in the safe and efficient operation of assigned Skid Steer Loader. Feeding loose material onto infeed conveyor for baling. Unloading loose material from various sized Van trailers in a safe and efficient manner. Loading residue into open top containers for take away. Perform other tasks or duties as assigned that relate to the safety, housekeeping, or operation of the plant. Performs routine service and care of fork trucks. Document inspections. Loading and unloading trucks. Safe and efficient operation of the baler unit assigned. Operate and maintain the baling equipment for all grades. Responsible for and monitoring the automatic cycling of the baler to produce maximum-density bales. Responsible for maintaining baler production reports. Filling vacancies during absences, Perform other assigned duties as tasked. Job Summary The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for the extraction, concentration, and/or adjusting of materials per Batch Production Records (BPRs) while incorporating cGMPs and following all accommodating SOPs within the manufacturing area. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Job Level 1 - Manufacturing Technician Train to become a signed off operator capable of independent work. Complete and pass all SOP's/tests assigned for the position. Can perform all key aspects of the position proficiently: Performing cleaning and sanitation properly Disassembling and re-connecting equipment Performs start-up checks and adjustments as needed Able to run and operate production proficiently Can resolve normal and routine machine interruptions Follows Batch Production Records (BPR) correctly Maintains current training requirements and certifications independently Supervisory Responsibilities None Requirements Qualifications Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Previous production experience is preferred along with basic knowledge of mechanical systems. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be able to do calculations and conversions using preset formula. Job Description Manufacturing Technician/Production Operator Job Scope: A Technician works in a high performing team that is responsible for keeping production flowing, delivering targeted performance goals, and for maintaining the high level of quality that Customers expect from our products. Under general supervision, operates, monitors, maintains, and recommend improvements. Operate equipment in accordance with standards by specifications and operating instructions. Adjusts equipment for best performance and continuously improve standards. This position reports to the shift Supervisor and the work schedule are a fixed day or night shift of 12 hours 2-2-3 system. At the start of employment, you will be working two 8 hour days from 8am-4:30pm for Orientation and training. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Effective shift exchange or pass down with performance data and troubleshooting information. Strictly adhere to all Environmental, Health, and Safety standards and regulations without posing a threat to the safety of others Maintain Work Instructions (WI) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Ensures production data is recorded and accurate. Perform autonomous maintenance tasks based on training and qualifications. Perform changeovers, tool set-ups, and machine adjustments to define center lines. Perform project and process improvement tasks to qualify materials and products on equipment. Identify and correct line abnormalities, ensure to communicate to the Supervisor and team members. Escalate problem(s) encountered to the Manufacturing supervisor. Work together and assist engineers (process, equipment, maintenance, Industrial) during evaluations, problem solving, experiments, and improvements. Improve and maintain a clean work environment by following 5S housekeeping and production area cleaning standards. Improve personal capability by learning and performing improved levels of equipment improvement by developing improved standards of operation.
