Job Description
The basic function of the Machine Operator is to perform all operational functions on the machines to achieve production goals on a daily and annual basis. Incumbent performs necessary functions in order to efficiently, safely, and correctly process materials in preparation for cooking or for packaging.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
Manage start-up to make sure equipment is in proper operating condition.
Set-up, operate, and perform change-over procedures of machine in accordance with operating standard protocols and machine settings.
Change out totes, seal tote bags accordingly to specs in accordance with processes and SOP's
Change rolls (of film, zipper, scavengers, stickers, etc.) in a timely manner to minimize down time and lost material.
Partner with Maintenance to minimized downtime. Communicate effectively with Maintenance personnel to prevent and address any machine malfunctions. Help complete basic troubleshooting or repair. Complete basic preventative maintenance.
Continually strive to maximize productivity and efficiency while decreasing waste and work at full capacity.
Ability to assemble and de-assemble machine.
Perform necessary checks at start of shift and at each new product; document on paperwork, code date, correct label, upper/lower film, etc.
Follow daily production schedule and achieve specified goals.
Ensure quality protocols & SOPs are followed and openly communicate with FSQ in order to fix defects to ensure quality standards are consistently met.
Ensure product conforms to specifications (i.e. weights & lengths) by performing periodic checks on output.
Ensure products are correctly labeled and identified for proper disposition.
Prevent and minimize rework and/or inedible.
Record daily production paperwork, process monitors, and daily run logs sheets completely and accurately.
Monitor workflow to maximize machine output efficiencies.
Keep hard supplies for batch run, such as combos and v-mags stocked in the area.
Accurately document all ingredients used and maintain a stock of necessary materials.
Ensure Team Members working on line are efficient and completing work safety and with quality in mind

Essential Functions
Cutting fiberglass cloth to size, following template or blueprints, using cutting machines, scissors, or knives.
Applying layers of fiberglass cloth onto mold or fixture in predetermined ply sequence, and presses cloth to fit contours on mold, smooth surface, and remove air pockets and excess resin using squeegee, scraper, or spatula.
Encasing molded laminate in bagging material and bleeder cloth, attaches vacuum bagging apparatus.
Dispensing, handling, and applying composite resins and adhesives.
Trimming, drilling, grinding, sanding, and finishing cured parts to specifications, using templates, fixtures, tools, and power tools.
Pre-fitting and assembling cured parts into assemblies or subassemblies, using jigs, fixtures, power tools, and fasteners, such as rivets and bolts.
Following all safety practices and procedures.
Safely performing tasks such as applying bondo and paint, operating palm sander and other basic hand tools, handling chemicals (resin, paste, acetone), laying fiberglass and balsa core, operating cranes, etc.

The role of the Production Worker is to perform necessary functions in order to efficiently, safely, and correctly prepare and process raw material to prepare it for cooking or cut & package finished product in preparation for shipment to customer.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Handling finished product, placing it continuously in trays or assembly lines to be shipped to our customers.
Making pallets by stacking boxes onto pallets, preparing the pallet with cardboard wrapping, manually shrink wrapping, and pulling/pushing pallets with manual pallet jack.

As Production Operator in Cresco, IA, you are responsible for the production and inspection of technical products essential to our company and our customers. This role requires the utilization of hand tools, measuring devices, adhesive applicators, and media cutting equipment during production and quality inspections. 2nd shift hours are 2pm -10pm Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays. (Noon- 6pm).
Starting pay is $23.80/hr. ($22.30/hr base pay and $1.50/hr Shift Differential).

Job Responsibilities Include:
Assembly of multimedia filters utilizing Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
Operation of various types of machinery to process materials/assemblies throughout the facility.
Inspect parts using quality inspection tools such as calipers, height gages, etc. per testing instructions and procedures.
Utilizes hand tools, measuring devices, adhesive applicators, and paper media cutting equipment in a safe and compliant manner
Report labor, production, scrap and other information into production systems.
Wear proper safety equipment (PPE)and follow Safety Protocols throughout the plant.
Keep work area organized at all times, perform preventative maintenance as needed.
Flexibility to move from line to line or position to position as needed including rotation for ergonomic purposes.
May be required to assist with training, instruction, or mentorship of employees in training.
Complies with all DOT, HAZMAT, Donaldson, Safety and Environmental policies/laws/rules and company codes of conduct and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Cut Floor Specialties:
Cut, debone, trim, and remove undesirable materials from product using knives and hooks; sharpen, maintain, and sanitize knives, as required
Prepare and adjust product to flow correctly into the laser cutter and/or other sorting and processing equipment
Understand daily production objectives and create products to specifications and customer needs
Packaging Floor Specialties:
Fold and prepare cardboard boxes for product storage and/or shipping; inform Shipping if more boxes are needed from storage
Complete final product inspection: use a knife or scissors to remove undesirable materials missed in previous steps, as needed
Monitor cut floor processes and collect product from the end of the production lines, as needed
Safely operate all packaging equipment including vacuum and box sealers; manually wrap product with plastic, as needed
Weigh packed boxes and edit and print product labels according to specifications
Palletize, organize, and stage product until the Shipping Department can collect, store, and/or ship
Communicate with USDA Inspectors regarding product inspection and approval, as needed
Observe production equipment and escalate any concerns or malfunctions to Plant Maintenance
Keep leadership aware of any concerns or issues that arise
Follow all company safety policies, practices, procedures, and improvement initiatives
Comply with all regulatory compliance requirements including environmental and food safety
Perform general housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work environment
Maintain regular and predictable on-site attendance

Qualifications
Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred; food manufacturing/hog processing experience, a plus
Ability to safely use a knife to cut meat; prior knife experience, preferred
Strong attention to detail and desire for high-quality products
Ability to memorize desired product appearance and visually determine where cuts should be made to meet product standards
Ability to accurately count, complete basic math operations, and read a scale to understand weights
Ability to communicate and accurately and legibly record information
Read and comprehend signs, labels, warnings, and company SOPs in English or Spanish
Ability to follow all USDA policies, procedures, and regulations
Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and work safely
Ability to pass in-house Pallet Jack Certification and operate equipment safely
Understanding and operate basic computer technology
Ability to work in a facility that processes hogs; be comfortable working with and/or around blood
Willingness to work additional hours or perform work in other areas of the facility, as requested
Must be 18 years of age or older for insurance purposes
