    The Soil Production employee performs tasks involved in receiving and preparation of soiled healthcare linens for the laundering process. The Soil Production employee follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. The employee in this role must exhibit accountability and flexibility in a fast paced, goal oriented, strenuous production environment. Physical requirements include repetitive motions over the duration of an entire shift including; repeated bending, stretching, twisting, reaching, pushing/pulling and lifting as well as excessive standing. Work days are typically 5 day workweeks, Monday through Saturday. Work hours may be adjusted due to workloads. The hours are Monday-Friday 5 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Essential Duties and Other Responsibilities: Under general supervision follow processes, work rules, and policies that are in place to meet strict safety, quality and production goals. Operate machinery in a safe-responsible manner. Wear required personal protective equipment provided (protective gloves, barrier gown/lab-type coat) when in soil area. Meet or exceed current production standards. Maintain positive and professional attitude. Exhibit respect towards management and co-workers. Notify Supervisor, in a timely manner, of any safety, mechanical or material issues. Housekeeping and adherence to health and safety standards. Must exhibit accountability and flexibility. Other duties as assigned. Must report to work on a timely basis and maintain attendance in accordance with Superior Linen's policies. The Production Operator is responsible for providing an efficient and good quality product with short lead times and low downtime to the downstream/final operations. The position practices safe work habits and follows standard work methods to meet both customer and API requirements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensuring quality and quantity of work and product produced is met. Proper care/usage/storage of tools, equipment and product. Adherence to corporate and department policies, procedures, practices and specifications. Working assigned shift schedule as required which may include extended work days and/or hours. Accurate and timely completion of all tasks assigned by the Shift Lead, Supervisor and/or Manager. Perform duties as part of a group or in an individual type setting. Report any discrepancies to the Shift Lead, Supervisor and/or Manager. Additional responsibilities may include: Appropriate communication via radio, telephone and/or in person. Proper operation of product turning tools. Proper operation and measurement readings of gauges including Tenths Tape, ID Mic, OD Mic, Dial Snap, Ovality, Pyrometers (hand held and stationary), Steel Rule, Straight Edge, MIL Thickness and Pressure. Ensure traceability and separation of properly and improperly processed material. Proper application of stencils and/or color bands to material processed properly and improperly. Proper removal of incorrect stencils and/or color bands. Proper utilization of an Oxyacetylene torch. Proper procurement and delivery of required tests. Proper evaluation of processed product: Straightness and driftability Size and ovality Surface, end and body damage Test pressure Length and weight Coating coverage Maintain adequate amount of consumable supplies. Maintain organization and cleanliness of work area. Small and/or Large Capacity Forklift Certification. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist Operator with set-up on production equipment per detailed work instructions. Ensure the proper materials are used as per scheduled guidelines and brand requirements. Inspect packaging of product to ensure quality is maintained within established quality guidelines. Communicate with other employees and supervisors to ensure proper materials are being used. Support and maintain a proper level of materials to ensure adequate supply and maintain production. Ability to learn and retain knowledge regarding various duties and various department guidelines. Effective oral and written communication skills. Attention to detail, pro-activity and effective follow-through. Flexibility to function in a fast-paced and innovative environment. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent PREFERRED Previous experience in a manufacturing machine operations role. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Walking, climbing, stooping, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds Must be visually capable to distinguish differences in color and wording on product and to detect non-tobacco related materials.
