Location: Ideal candidate will reside near a major airport in the Midwest and/or Eastern Region of the US as this position will require up to 70% regular travel to the Plant locations. Position Overview: The ManufacturingEngineering (with an Electrical Engineering emphasis) will support eight (8) facilities of the North American Food Division manufacturing operations. This position will work closely with the manufacturing facilities in regard to electrical programming, problem solving, etc. for both the 3-Piece and 2-Piece steel and aluminum food cans and end processes. Duties And Responsibilities: Reporting directly to the Sr Manager Production Engineering (Electrical) duties would include but not be limited to the following: * Providing problem-solving on electrical technical matters relating to food can and end performance * Developing full documentation package of new and existing installations * Continued support of new installations and plants until production efficiencies and goals are met * Support plants and personnel as required to identify production problems or issues, identify viable solutions and implement the same * Develop job completion schedules and monitor their progress * Guide, support and train plant electrical teams Qualifications: In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following: Minimum Requirements * BS degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or a related discipline * 5+ years in a packaging manufacturing environment, food production or a similar industry. * Strong technical knowledge demonstrating broad understanding of electrical power and controls design and installation * Demonstrated experience in PLC logic programming, documentation, and troubleshooting control programs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Modicon, etc.) * Experience with facilities power distribution (including voltages to 600v & three phase) and control systems and subsystems * Power transmission equipment such as gearboxes, drive trains, conveying equipment, etc. * Proven record of delivering engineering outputs to achieve scheduled targets * Effective communication skills are needed for this role, both verbal and written as well as the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization. * Self-motivated and eager to take the initiative; with the ability to work effectively in a team setting and as an individual * Well organized and detail oriented with good time management skills * Strong PC skills are a must, especially using Word, Outlook, and Excel. * Committed to on-going personal development and career growth Preferred Requirements * Steel and/or aluminum manufacturing environment experience would be ideal * A certification in Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing would be a plus Physical Requirements * While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl * The associate may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds * Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus Working Conditions * Will be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting in a plant environment as well as in an office. * While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic. * The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures. * The noise level is frequently loud. *Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Manufacturer is seeking a Process Engineer to work in their engineering team. The Process Engineer will be responsible for overseeing an assigned area related to best practices, KPI improvements, plan execution and new technology industrialization. Responsibilities will include:

**System Owner Manufacturing Systems Engineer**
**What you will do**

You will be part of a diverse, dynamic team responsible for developing automation strategies that ensure safety, quality, and efficiency across multiple packaging lines and systems.
**Key Responsibilities**
**System Design, Ownership, and Development**
+ Design, develop, implement, and sustain automation, control, and mechanical systems supporting packaging and manufacturing operations.
+ Serve as System Owner for assigned equipment and systems, accountable for system performance, reliability, lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance.
+ Apply established engineering principles and Amgen standards to system design, configuration, modification, and continuous improvement activities.
+ Develop, review, and approve system documentation including URS, specifications, design documents, SOPs, and lifecycle records.
+ Provide technical requirements and direction to vendors, service providers, and internal partners.
**Integration, Optimization, and Operations Engineering**
+ Integrate new automation technologies into existing manufacturing and packaging systems.
+ Support process characterization, optimization, and performance monitoring to improve throughput, quality, and operational efficiency.
+ Act as a technical authority (SME) for assigned systems, supporting routine operations and issue resolution.
+ Conduct feasibility assessments, risk evaluations, and cost-benefit analyses for system enhancements.
**Troubleshooting and Technical Support**
+ Provide advanced trouble shooting and problem-solving support for automation systems and equipment.
+ Collaborate with Maintenance, Automation Technicians, Manufacturing, IS, and Quality to resolve issues and minimize downtime.
+ Lead root cause investigations and support development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
+ Plan and execute system upgrades, obsolescence mitigation, and reliability improvements.
**Compliance, Validation, and Quality Assurance**
+ Ensure systems operate in compliance with GMP, GAMP, data integrity, and regulatory requirements.
+ Support validation lifecycle activities including protocol development, execution, and reporting (IQ, OQ, PQ).
+ Maintain validated state of assigned systems and support regulatory inspections and audits.
+ Partner with Quality, Validation, and Regulatory Affairs to address compliance-related issues.
**Project Management and Design Engineering**
+ Lead or support automation-related capital and expense projects in alignment with site and network priorities.
+ Coordinate with project managers, vendors, and engineering firms to deliver solutions within defined scope, schedule, and budget.
+ Develop technical assessments, cost estimates, schedules, and project documentation.
+ Communicate project status, risks, and performance metrics to stakeholders.
+ Reverse engineer equipment and parts
**Training, Leadership, and Production Support**
+ Provide technical guidance, coaching, and knowledge transfer to operations and maintenance personnel.
+ Develop and deliver training materials to support effective operation and maintenance of systems.
+ Support commercial packaging operations by providing timely technical support and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Demonstrate Amgen leadership behaviors through collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
**Advanced Manufacturing, Reverse Engineering, and Additive Manufacturing (3-D Scanning and Printing)**
+ Lead and execute reverse engineering activities including dimensional analysis, material identification, functional assessment, and design recreation using CAD, 3-D scanning technologies, and engineering analysis tools.
+ Develop, review, and approve engineering models, drawings, and specifications for reverse-engineered parts in accordance with Amgen engineering standards and GMP requirements.
+ Maintain reliability of additive manufacturing (3-D printing) for spare parts, fixtures, tooling, and non-product contact components, including risk, material compatibility, mechanical performance, and regulatory impact.
+ Establish and maintain documentation required to support 3-D printed parts, including design records, material certifications, inspection results, and traceability documentation.
+ Develop lifecycle strategies for digitally stored spare parts (digital inventory), including version control, cybersecurity considerations, and long-term accessibility.
+ Provide technical guidance and training to Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams on reverse engineering methods, 3-D scanning technologies, and additive manufacturing standard methodologies.
**Own the end-to-end 3-D printing process for approved use cases, including:**
+ Functional equivalency
+ Technology and material selection
+ Printer and scanner qualification and maintenance
+ Print parameter definition and optimization
+ Post-processing, inspection, and acceptance criteria

**Basic Qualifications:**
Master's degree
Or
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant Automation, Packaging, or Manufacturing experience
Or
Associate's degree and 4 years of relevant Automation, Packaging, or Manufacturing experience
Or
High school diploma / GED and 8 years of relevant Automation, Packaging, or Manufacturing experience
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Advanced degree in Engineering (Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Chemical).
+ Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing environments.
+ Demonstrated System Owner or technical system lead experience.
+ Knowledge of PLC/HMI programming and industrial automation platforms (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens).
+ CSWA certification for SolidWorks. Inventor and Fusion 360 proficiency
+ Understanding of validation, documentation, and change management in regulated environments.
+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
+ Familiarity with Operational Excellence and Lean principles.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.

A Day in the Life:
No two days are ever the same in this role.
Tasks can include:
Training operators in proper process, tool usage, and tool maintenance.
Collaborating with other engineering teams on process efficiency, quality, and safety improvement projects.
Developing new designs using 3D modeling software like Solidworks for carts or production tools. Then work with the fab shops to complete the fabrication of them in a timely manner.
Work closely with contractors to coordinate utility needs such as air and electrical drops, and oversee the installation of new equipment.
Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance tasks on machinery.
Troubleshoot machines whenever the team needs extra support.
Provide hands-on support to production lines as needed.
Complete hands-on testing for new process changes

Primary Job Responsibilities:
95% of the workday will be on the manufacturing floor working on projects, operating and repair of equipment
Involvement with equipment operators to ensure parts are programmed, training and any process related issues
Responsible for working with Safety, Quality, and Industrial engineering teams on parts, assembly, and process improvements
Implementation of Engineer Change Notices (ECN) and Process Change Instructions (PCI)
Support production as needed, capable of building all products to the expected quality standards in the designated area of focus on an as needed basis
Assist production staff with product related questions
Work with Plant manager on various facility improvement projects
Job Requirements:
0-10 yrs experience
4-year technical degree, in an electrical, electronics or mechanically oriented curriculum
Must be strong in mechanical and electrical engineering.
Internship/co-op experience is preferred
Must enjoy hands on product exposure
Electrical skills and experience needed
AutoCAD or similar software a must
Multi-tasking, problem solving and strong communication skills a must
Strong emphasis on perfect product quality and to maintain a safe work environment
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work standing for 8 - 10 hours at a time
Required to use ladder, forklift or other means to acquire parts for product assembly
Able to use power & hand tools, as well as electrical testing and measuring equipment
Ability to lift 35 to 50 pounds independently
