Garyville's Process Engineering team is a dynamic and collaborative environment responsible for understanding, analyzing, and improving the production units at the Garyville site. The team's key stakeholders include the production operators they support, the maintenance & reliability group, and the planning group. The Process Engineer role is key in reaching site and organizational goals related to safety, performance, TPM, and customer service.
The Process Engineer is an individual contributor that will be responsible for specific production units on the Garyville site. This means the engineer will learn the chemical processes that take place in the unit, build relationships with the operators that run those processes, and communicate the KPIs and challenges of the unit's planned production. Once a basic understanding of the unit is in place, the Process Engineer will be responsible for maintaining a safe and compliant workplace, implementing process changes in the unit, and working with appropriate stakeholders (QA, TPM, Maintenance, Capital) to improve unit efficiency and performance.
Each process engineer is responsible for different units and processes, but it's necessary to work with other engineers and departments to achieve the best solutions. The ideal candidate is analytical, an effective communicator, and focused on execution.

What You Will Do:
Monitor and analyze the performance of production units

Collaborate with logistics and planning groups to meet customer demand
Analyze, investigate, and troubleshoot problems in processes and equipment
Document changes in unit by writing MOCs and performing PSSRs
Member of a site TPM Pillar team
Support capital projects by providing process data, reviewing designs, serving on project teams, participating in hazard analysis, and executing other relevant duties
Work with area chemist/pilot plant on new product development/implementation
Review and update SOPs to reflect operation changes
Interface with the reliability team for outage planning and maintenance work in area
Evaluate, drive and advocate for insourcing, innovation and volume opportunities for the site
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, or similar technical field
3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience with equipment design, process development, and optimization

The pay range for this position is $83,600.00 - $125,400.00. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.

Position Summary
Day to day troubleshooting and light engineering to support production activities. Need experience with calculations and experience with steam and utility studies.
Responsibilities
Projects will have varying process complexity, size, cost and priority.
Ensure all process designs are safe, technically sound, meet Company standards and meets business needs.
Support Project Manager at review committee meetings for assigned projects.
Potentially lead or support special technical studies and provide engineering support to the assessment (pre-scouting) activities of improvement ideas.
Engage with stakeholders and customers to align on project objectives and minimum functional requirements, timing, etc..
Ensure all aspects of Refinery operation are adequately covered during project definition.
Provide continued process engineering support to the execution organizations during the detailed engineering, procurement, and construction phases of the project.
Ensure adequate / appropriate commissioning and start-up support to operations.
Applies engineering principles in discipline of competency, as assigned by supervisor with direction.
Prepares basic to advanced specifications detailing performance requirements, specific components, design
requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities and implemented in work designed.
Performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard design engineering techniques for a
small project or selected segments of a larger project.
Prepares sketches and performs calculations for a detailed segment of a project.
Prepares technical specifications for review and approval.
Assists in the development of design guides, guide specifications and design control procedures.
Visits vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance with requirements.
Visits jobsites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions.
Interfaces with other disciplines and clients.
Prepares inquiry and purchase requisitions.
Prepares bid tabulations on simple purchases.
Reviews vendor drawings.
Develops a focus on least cost, safe design.
May utilize information from vendor prints, catalogs, technical manuals, etc.
May interface with construction crews during construction phase to provide and receive input relative to
accuracy of drawings, coordination of shutdowns and to expedite the timely and efficient completion of the
project.
Supervises design personnel.
Actively involved in maintaining the schedule and budget of assigned projects.
Keeps supervisor informed of progress.
Meets company quality assurance requirements for personal work assignments.
Supports field assignments as required.
Must be able to perform all the functions of the lower classifications.
Qualifications
1 to 3 years of relevant experience.

Chemical Engineering Degree.
