Details: Title: Process Engineer The Process Engineer provides technical support to help maintain and enhance the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally responsible operation of nitrogen fertilizer production units while maximizing production capacity. The role focuses on developing operational understanding, technical capabilities, and project management skills by working on projects for the Active Ingredient (AI) units, including identifying production bottlenecks, addressing safety issues, and implementing improvement opportunities. Typically, the role is assigned 9-12-month rotations within a 2-3-year rotational program across the production units at the St. Gabriel site. Success in this role provides opportunities to progress into dedicated production engineering positions. Accountabilities: Support special projects as needed for AI production. Map and document current operations by interacting with technicians and production personnel. Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to redesign and optimize operations. Support or lead implementation of improvement initiatives, including technical documentation, training, commissioning, and start-up. Ensure proper review and documentation of processes and changes for operational, safety, and environmental impact via Management of Change. Develop and present technician training programs. Support daily production activities for a production unit, such as quality or process monitoring, environmental compliance tracking, production reporting, etc. Provide process engineering support on troubleshooting, applying a combination of theoretical and applied knowledge to help resolve challenges. Manage day-to-day expectations of stakeholders. Coordinate plant trials or new product introductions into the MPF unit. Support unit operations in incident investigations related to production processes. Qualifications Required: B.S. Chemical Engineering with 0-3 years of experience in chemical process design or production. Knowledge of process safety, environmental regulation, and programs. Understanding of safety, environmental, and economic issues associated with the operation of a chemical plant. Ability to successfully communicate with various functions (Supply Chain, SH&E, Process Technology, Plant Engineering, Quality Control, operations personnel). Ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Good interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and ability to lead and facilitate meetings. Analytical, logical, and open-minded. Desired: Manufacturing experience in a highly complex chemical production facility preferred. Experience in process safety by participating in risk assessments or PSM-covered processes. Client facility in Convent, LA. 5+ years major project front-end development experience. Brownfield experience a plus. Job Responsibilities: Projects will have varying process complexity, size, cost and priority. Ensure all process designs are safe, technically sound, meet Company standards and meets business needs. Support Project Manager at review committee meetings for assigned projects. Potentially lead or support special technical studies and provide engineering support to the assessment (pre-scouting) activities of improvement ideas. Support completion of Project Initiation Forms (idea generation). Engage with stakeholders and customers to align on project objectives and minimum functional requirements, timing, etc. Ensure all aspects of Refinery operation are adequately covered during project definition. Coordinate and document Opportunity Framing, where applicable. Develop and maintain Project Premise Document for all phases of the project. Provide economic evaluations throughout the project, documenting assumptions and basis. Support the development of the Basis of Design. Provide continued process engineering support to the execution organizations during the detailed engineering, procurement, and construction phases of the project. Ensure adequate / appropriate commissioning and start-up support to operations. Job Qualifications: Chemical Engineering Degree. 5+ years Front End Development experience.
