We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support CONMED’s Precision Machining Operation (PMO) Factory.
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will serve as the factory technical leader and play a key role across three primary areas: sustaining engineering, new product introduction support, and continuous improvement initiatives. In this role, you will develop, implement, and support machining processes used in the manufacturing of complex high-precision medical devices and components. You will design cell layouts and optimize processes to maximize efficiency, develop tooling and fixturing, implement verification and validation plans, troubleshoot using six sigma tools, and lead continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives. You will also provide subject matter expertise and support to our High-Performance Work Teams on the production floor. This is a high impact position that will allow you to leverage your problem solving, project management, and technical skills in a dynamic and diverse production environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Interpret drawings and design processes and develop CNC programs to manufacture medical devices and components. Perform test runs and make the necessary adjustments to ensure the resulting product meets specifications.
Lead the development and implementation of work instructions for machine operators to ensure a high-quality output and revise as required.
Lead the investigation and resolution of any issues that arise during the manufacturing process to ensure that site safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met and machine downtime is minimized.
Lead the planning and design of tooling, fixturing, processes, and cell layouts, and oversee the specification, selection, installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment and machinery in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Lead process changes and introduce new processes. Create engineering change orders and complete all required documentation and computer system transactions to implement the changes.
Perform process verification and validation and qualify vendors, suppliers, components, items, parts, etc.
Investigate and lead the implementation of new machining technologies that would enable the department to reduce costs and increase output.
Instruct and direct other engineers in the designing of tools, fixtures, and processes, and the support of machinery.
Lead projects and meet all assigned project deadlines and deliverables. These could include the transfer of new products, continuous improvement projects and cost savings initiatives, design changes, insourcing and outsourcing efforts.
Support and improve processes using statistical, lean, good manufacturing practice (GMP), and six sigma methodologies.
Perform failure analyses (FA) and improve functionality and performance of medical devices by identifying and implementing process improvements and machining improvements on production lines.
Make reports, maintain files, lists, logs, etc. and complete the required paperwork. Discuss progress and findings at periodic design/project review meetings.
Interface with inside/outside contacts to complete assignments, resolve problems.
Perform other related functions as required by management.
