Job Qualifications
REQUIRED:
+ BS/MS Electrical, Mechanical, or, Electrical degrees are preferred

About the Role
Caterpillar's Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Order-to-Delivery (MSOD) Intern program seeks students currently enrolled in a four-year university to work alongside manufacturing professionals to learn and apply themselves to project work within their teams.

JOB PURPOSE or JOB SUMMARY:
The primary role of the New Product Launch (NPL) Manufacturing Engineer is to systematically take a project through the NPL process by way of designing the process(es) to meet or exceed customer communicated specifications while meeting internal requirements of the project tied to Safety, Quality, and Delivery.
The NPL Manufacturing Engineer will design and verify the process by working closely with Account Managers and be heavily involved with training plant personnel to be able to complete the product in accordance to customer specifications with assistance from Subject Matter Experts. The NPL Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for assisting the documentation team in creating and verifying all necessary documents tied to said project.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typical duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Gain a solid understanding of customer requirements verifying product manufacturability. Be able to articulate any and all concerns to key stakeholders within the organization and in some cases directly to the customer.
Design manufacturing process of new product in the safest, most efficient, and repeatable way possible with both internal and external customers in mind.
Will perform hands-on work based on process design to produce sample parts in accordance to known customer specifications.
Train production employees to designed and approved process.
Assist the documentation team in creating all new documents required which are relevant to each new project.
Confirm or identify discrepancies in BOM's.
Verify process against key corporate metrics via formal audit process.
Will be involved in Continuous Improvement initiatives related to any and all manufacturing processes at RLP.
Procurement of necessary items and supporting tools to make product manufacturable in accordance to customer supplied criteria. This will include soliciting services from external vendors and suppliers.
Provide administrative assistance to Account Manager(s) / Stage Gate program tied to New Project Launch Process.
Will be involved in communication with customers related to status of new and at times existing projects.

Work Relationship and Scope:
Reports to the SVP Global Operations - Nathan Genke. Works closely with all other colleagues at FyterTech to accomplish established goals. Works daily with highly confidential business and employee information.
