Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Establishes and continually improves Lean operational methods and work standards * Analyzes existing operations and proposes cost justified improvements utilizing the sufficiency plan process * Implements including maintaining templates and process documentation and ensuring effective utilization of Epicor * Responsible for leading 5S initiatives, Kaizen events, 6 Sigma projects and assist in the analysis and implementation of Kanban systems to reduce inventories and other process improvements * Optimizes use of floorspace, material flow, manpower utilization, workstation design and equipment using Industrial Engineering & Lean Manufacturing methods, tools, process flow diagrams and techniques including standardized work, line balancing, time studies, labor routing, theory of constraint, work station design, ergonomic assessment, Visual Management, Andon, Mixed Model Sequencing & Scheduling * Creates common templates, reports, and methods and provides data for management reporting systems such as Production End of Shift Reports, KPI Reporting, Financial Analysis, Unit Cost Reports, Productivity Analysis, Efficiency Analysis, Budget Analysis, Cost Reduction Analysis, Sufficiency Plans, Cap Expenditure justifications, Make vs Buy Analysis, and Disposition of Obsolete Equipment * Analyze and document current state of PSI material flow strategies, systems and processes to improve operations in warehousing, supermarket, kitting, sub-assembly, and point of use line side material presentation. OVERALL JOB DESCRIPTION Provide self-directed support relative to the design and development of manufacturing equipment and processes. Identify opportunities and implement changes as it relates to reducing cost and improving quality throughout the manufacturing process. What You'll Do: The Manufacturing Engineering intern builds and develops assembly fixtures and performs time studies. They will participate in our manufacturing processes - on and off the assembly line. The Position The Process Engineer Intern will support engineering and validation activities at Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals by developing process documentation and performing calculations that support process and cleaning validation campaigns. This internship offers hands-on experience creating process flow diagrams, analyzing equipment design, and collaborating with process engineers and validation teams. The intern's work will contribute directly to data accuracy, documentation quality, and timely project execution. This is an 11-week Summer Internship Program paying $21.00 per hour and requires full-time, onsite work five days per week at the designated location. Responsibilities Develop program-specific process flow diagrams (PFDs) using tools such as Visio, including equipment identification and key process details. Measure and calculate material contacting surface areas of process equipment to support validation activities. Support process and cleaning validation calculations, including review and verification of data. Gather equipment information external vendors and collaborate with Process Engineers and Validation teams to extract required data. Document and write a standardized procedure outlining methods for calculating equipment surface area. Generate clear, organized reports and documentation to support validation campaigns. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering and validation data. Requirements Currently enrolled student at an accredited university or college, with a minimum of two years completed toward a degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
