Position Overview
We are seeking a Spacecraft Mechanical Design DMU & Mass Properties Engineer to support satellite mechanical/structural and payload development across both non-recurring engineering (NRE) and recurring programs. This role involves systems engineering, mechanical design, CAD assembly development, mass properties tracking, interface definition, analysis support, assembly support, and testing support. The ideal candidate is innovative, collaborative, and capable of leading small teams while working independently.
Key Responsibilities
Create and manage full spacecraft CAD assemblies, including skeleton models, subsystem interfaces, and flight hardware.
Develop and maintain mass properties databases for all satellite and launch configurations.
Implement CAD-based controls to validate mass properties tracking.
Develop and maintain interface control drawings (ICDs), detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Material (BOM).
Perform mechanical/structural subsystem and payload trade studies to optimize system architecture for performance, mass, cost, and manufacturability.
Support preparation of preliminary and detailed mechanical designs.
Provide technical support to procurement, production, assembly, and testing for spacecraft structures and hardware.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and structural designs into the spacecraft system.
Qualifications
Education:

An ESP Application Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) systems to meet production goals in various oil and gas operations.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Collaborate with the Sales Team to tailor an ESP design to the customer's well conditions, ensuring optimal production, and extending the operating run life of the system.
• Assist the Optimization Team in solving performance challenges by matching the ESP design to current operational data. Provide an analysis of the current ESP system health and any uplift opportunities available through resizing the ESP system.
• Support the Sales Team in preparing customer performance reviews by analyzing and interpreting field-wide run-life data for a customer and determining primary modes of failure. Utilize customer run-life data in conjunction with dismantle, inspection, and failure analysis(DIFA) reports to generate recommendations for further improving field-wide ESP run-life.
• Develop the ESP design software used throughout the company by working with both internal and external stakeholders to further enhance and expand software features.
• Other duties as specified by supervisor and conduct related work, as necessary.
Requirements
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related subject
• Experienced in designing ESP systems for oil wells, shale oil well ESP designs preferred but not required.
• Advanced understanding of all technical ESP design aspects and equipment configurations, including both mechanical and electrical. Understanding of ESP field operations and the DIFA process.
• Experience interpreting run life data and DIFA reports to generate recommendations for further improving ESP run life.
• Visit customers in both the field and office environments, comfortable presenting to a group of customers.
• Understanding of the production challenges facing the shale oil industry, preferred but not required.
• Self-motivated to achieve results with minimal direct supervision.
• Computer literate with intermediate knowledge of MS Office suite, experience using ESP design software and the ability to learn how to utilize monitoring software platforms.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to sit and/or drive a vehicle; a minimum of 2 hours and often up to 4 hours.
• Must be able to maneuver to all areas of a pump shop or warehouse, and to all allowable areas of a well site or other job sites.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to safely mount and dismount from the back of a truck, and bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working at area.
• Must have the manual dexterity and coordination to operate hand tools and mechanical tools such as a wrench.
• Must be able to tolerate changing priorities, and complete assignments despite frequent interruptions.
• Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
• Must be able to drive a one-ton pick-up truck.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment is typically considered within an ELS location during normal or extended business hours. Work environment may also include customer sites including oil well sites, and meeting venues, extensive time off site while traveling or to other locations as required.
