The job of Substation Design Standards Engineer requires an individual to be self-directed with an interest and / or ability to create and manage engineering designs, equipment and standards for the Substation Engineering group within FirstEnergy. This position will work within a staff of engineers, survey crews, drafters / layouts, both internal and external, engaged in a wide variety of engineering design, from the request for project estimation through construction and record update. This position will report on the progress of design projects and advise of any issues that could impair the successful completion of the project on a proactive basis. This position must provide technical support to Substation and Transmission personnel, Real Estate, Project Management and Construction crews verifying that no safety standards are compromised, checking for accuracy, and monitoring expenditures to ensure projects stay within budget allocation and meet the required in-service date.
Responsibilities include:
Creating engineering designs and work scope for substation projects and confirming documentation and support is available to necessary personnel. Possible items including steel structures, foundations, clearances, layout drawings, grounding, oil containment, lightning protection, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Ensuring designs support a safe environment for transmission lines and substations personnel, contractors and the general public.
Preparing bills-of-material and specifications to procure needed equipment and materials for a substation project.
Preparing and filing applications and supporting documentation for engineering permits when necessary.
Reviewing NESC clearance requirements and Maintenance personnel and ensure the public safety is protected.
Assisting Real Estate in the acquisition of Substation property by coordinating the preparation of sketches, maps, exhibits and easement plans.
Directing technical personnel to gather and record data for substation design projects.
Working with outside engineering firms, vendors, equipment manufacturers and consultants.
Providing engineering support to employees to assist in their learning of standards, procedures, designs, and associated issues.
Analyzing engineering issues, structures, equipment, etc., and recommending appropriate solutions and alternate design options.
Preparing estimates for proposed projects.
Reviewing manufacturer drawings for compliance with specifications.
Conducting design reviews, plant audits, and test witnessing at manufacturer's facilities as necessary.

We are currently recruiting for a ManufacturingEngineer Trainee (MET). The MET will be an entry level graduate with a BSME. They will train under senior engineers of our team as part of our manufacturing training and development program.
Purpose and Scope:
Entry level position in manufacturingengineering as part of our manufacturing training and development program. This position will provide an excellent developmental opportunity in operations and manufacturing combined with practical hands-on projects contributing directly to the performance and success of the company. Develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. Drives product and process changes to reduce cost and lead time and improve quality and delivery. Position will include a mentorship and corporate exposure.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Support manufacturing production processes with all required technical needs.
• Develop and improve manufacturing processes by deploying product and manufacturing method enhancements.
• Determine product and process manufacturing flow and sequences, material and labor requirements, and quality inspection points.
• Create and maintain manufacturing routers and processes
• Must be able and willing to work extra time as necessary to ensure completion of assigned tasks
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position.
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:
• Experience/working knowledge of manufacturing processes
• Ability to read and decipher manufacturing drawings and procedures
• Intermediate materials knowledge
• Working knowledge of solid modeling

Position Description: Industrial Engineer Multi-Site Continuous Improvement
LayerZero Power Systems is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to lead continuous improvement initiatives and optimize plant layouts across multiple manufacturing sites. This role involves supporting facility moves, designing layouts using CAD 2D tools, and driving operational excellence through Lean methodologies. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams across different locations.
Requirements:
Primary Duties:
· Develop and implement standardized processes and layouts across multiple facilities.
· Coordinate plant moves and expansions at different sites, ensuring minimal disruption.
· Identify and execute improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen principles.
· Analyze workflows to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance quality.
· Create and maintain accurate 2D CAD drawings for facility layouts and equipment positioning.
· Experience on the systematic management of moving, storing, protecting, and controlling materials and products through the entire supply chain, from raw goods to finished products, using manual, automated, or semi-automated equipment to boost efficiency.
· Validate designs with engineering and maintenance teams.
· Collect and analyze operational data from multiple sites to support decision-making.
· Prepare reports and presentations for leadership on improvement initiatives.
· Partner with production, maintenance, safety, and quality teams across all sites.
· Support capital projects and vendor coordination.
Education:
· Bachelors degree in industrial engineering or related field.
Requirements
Experience & Skills:
· 510 years in a manufacturing environment with multi-site responsibility.
· Proficiency in CAD 2D design software (AutoCAD or equivalent).
· Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
· Ability to calculate and apply FPM/m/s for material flow optimization.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
· Strong communication and project management skills.
· Ability to travel between sites as needed.
· Experience with multi-site facility relocation projects.
· Familiarity with ERP systems and production planning tools.
· Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher).
