The Project Engineer supports our project management team across all phases of construction-from pre-construction planning through project execution and close-out. Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and manage construction documentation (RFIs, Submittals, Change Orders, As-Builts).

Review and redline shop drawings for accuracy and spec compliance.

Conduct pre-inspection QA/QC and walk inspections when possible.
Verify mix designs and field readiness (equipment, site conditions, weather considerations).
Document daily activity through reports and photos (as required).
Support PMs with overlay reviews, checklist meetings, and scheduling tasks
Manage punch list completion, warranty tracking, and close-out documentation.
Contribute feedback on process and technology improvements.
Support OCIP/CCIP close-out procedures.

Qualifications:
1-3 years of experience in construction engineering or B.S. in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or Civil Engineering.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design of specialty structural elements known as Buckling Restrained Braces (BRBs) and their connections.
Design of gusset plates and verification of local effects in frame members.
Analysis of relevant project documents to ensure compliance with project specific design requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one preferred.
Understanding of current building codes and standards, engineering fundamentals, and structural load paths.
Familiarity with seismic and structural steel design preferred.

Lead reliability and maintainability initiatives across all production and utility equipment to improve uptime, safety, and product quality.

Review and disposition Engineering Change Requests
Conduct job release and post job review meetings.
Participate in and/or conduct Continuous Improvement/Productivity activities with manufacturing personnel.
Review Customer Change Requests, evaluate to determine cost and delivery impact.
Availability:
Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion. Must be available and willing to work overtime as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
Knowledge, Skills:
General knowledge of blueprint reading and drafting skill, including basic GD&T. Excellent computer skills with experience in one or more of the following programs: SolidWorks, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and ERP Systems. Effective math skills including algebra, trigonometry, and geometry. General knowledge of machining and fabrication processes and capabilities.
Experience and Education:
Minimum of 10 years related work experience.
B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related engineering field preferred.
Travel: Must be available and willing to travel as Petersen determines necessary or desirable to meet business needs.
Working Conditions: Normally works in an office. Occasionally, the employee is subject to:
Shop floor environment.
High noise levels from operating machines.
Physical hazards from moving equipment and production components.
Breathing fumes, dust, and mist.
Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids.
Welding flash.

Skills:
