The Job You Will Perform:
The Manufacturing Excellence Manager (MME) reports directly to the Mill Optimization Leader and is responsible for delivering results through the Manufacturing Excellence (ME) methodology by leading deliberate and continuous improvement initiatives. This role leads the ME team and integrates ME priorities across the facility using structured improvement tools.
The MME works closely with all levels of the organization-including Business Unit Managers, Area Managers, and “Improve” resources (such as Reliability Engineers, Capital Engineers, and others)-to ensure the mill's improvement plan is cohesive and aligned. These resources and their supervisors must be comfortable with the MME playing a role in setting and managing their priorities. JOB SUMMARY:
The Design Engineer position is responsible for developing product specifications and designs, and for interfacing with customers and team members to deliver products that meet customer orders. Position requires the employee to perform a wide variety of duties, including, but not limited to, the following:
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Read, interpret, and understand architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical drawings and specifications.
Develop product drawings that meet all applicable design codes and customer specifications.
Collaborate with the different disciplines within the Engineering department.
Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using 2D & 3D CAD software (Autodesk AutoCAD & Inventor).
Perform engineering calculations to support design work.
Complete projects based on priorities set by the Engineering Director
Work alongside project managers on the shop floor to successfully monitor progress and implementation of engineering projects
Responsible for working according to the company's safety and quality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS: Work Experience: Must have 2-5 years of experience working in an engineering environment. Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field Related Experience:
Firm grasp of engineering concepts and experience designing mechanical systems and products
Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems.
Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Familiar with industry building codes
Familiarity with State Building Codes is desired.
Professional license is desired or willing to pursue license as required to support project requirements.
Understands engineering design principles to guide designers and drafters.
Must be detail oriented and familiar with interpreting drawings and shop details.
Must have a good attendance record and have a strong sense of personal responsibility.
Self-motivated and works well with or without supervision.
Good organizational skills and a methodical approach to work.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary.
