The Team
Upstart's Machine Learning, Personal Loan Underwriting team is focused on leveraging machine learning to power Upstart's underwriting models. This team builds the underwriting model which determines credit decisioning at Upstart and plays a central role in overall performance with numerous challenging problems to solve.
As a Machine Learning Engineer, PL UW at Upstart, you will collaborate with Research Scientists, Data Scientists, and other engineering departments. Your work will impact the team in a number of ways:
Increase ML productivity through better software and infrastructure; improve how we research, train, deploy, serve and monitor our models.
Reduce the time from idea to production and enable testing of new ideas to fulfill our mission of enabling access to credit more effectively.
Design and implement code and algorithms to improve our model's predictive power.

At Upstart, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below range. Position Overview:

Providing problem-solving on electrical technical matters relating to food can and end performance
Developing full documentation package of new and existing installations
Continued support of new installations and plants until production efficiencies and goals are met
Support plants and personnel as required to identify production problems or issues, identify viable solutions and implement the same
Develop job completion schedules and monitor their progress
Guide, support and train plant electrical teams
Qualifications:
In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
Minimum Requirements
BS degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
5+ years in a packaging manufacturing environment, food production or a similar industry.
Strong technical knowledge demonstrating broad understanding of electrical power and controls design and installation
Demonstrated experience in PLC logic programming, documentation, and troubleshooting control programs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Modicon, etc.)
Experience with facilities power distribution (including voltages to 600v & three phase) and control systems and subsystems
Power transmission equipment such as gearboxes, drive trains, conveying equipment, etc.
Proven record of delivering engineering outputs to achieve scheduled targets
Effective communication skills are needed for this role, both verbal and written as well as the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities
As an ManufacturingEngineer, you will have the opportunity to make an impact by:

Conducting technical inspections of complex machines
Recommending and implementing improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters
Evaluating and approving design changes, specifications and drawing releases
Partnering with the ManufacturingEngineering Manager to develop and execute projects that are a part of the Identifications Enterprise Lean Sigma journey
Managing special projects; which could include supplier relationships, production performance management, sustainability, and other ad hoc projects
Setting project schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and solving problems
Defining requirements for new equipment validation run-off
Preparing new machines and production equipment for operation
Optimizing direct and indirect manufacturing labor and in-plant material flow through the use of industrial engineering methods including line balancing, time studies, as well as both in-plant and external material flow
Designing and planning equipment layouts
Qualifications
To set you up for success in this role, Avery Dennison requires the following qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in related field (Engineering, Mechanical/Industrial) or 2-4 years of experience in an engineering function in a manufacturing environment
Knowledgeable in Electronic Systems (wire diagrams, schematics, PLC logic .. ect.)
Knowledgeable in Mechanical Systems (Cams, Torque requirements, ect.)
Excellent math and analytical skills
Excellent communication and organization skills with an emphasis on detail

Responsibilities
