Duties and Responsibilities:
Evaluate status of tools in injection molding and plastic extrusion

Establish tooling maintenance plan

Qualifications:

Essential Functions: The Project Engineer oversees mid- to large-scale complex machining/fab/assembly projects, guides a project team through the entire project cycle -from estimating the project with the customer design for fabrication, shop floor execution, and final delivery. This role involves leading and coordinating the team to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
Duties:
Collaborate with Sales and lead the estimate building process for customer projects using Petersen's ERP software
Plan and build-out projects from start to finish that will be manufactured in our Ogden facility
Manage all phases of multiple mid-sized to large projects at any given time, with technical assistance from the shop-floor and design engineering, including pre-ordering sales support (budget/quotation phase) and contract review of orders. Lead projects independently with minimal guidance.
Understanding the requirements of customized customer specifications and apply visual Project Management and daily management. Evaluate planning and technical risk, make decisions and ensure countermeasures are in place to enable the execution of the project milestones on time.
Coordinate with team members in their area of expertise (mechanical, chemical, electrical, automation, etc.) to ensure delivery of the project, on time, on budget and to the quality standards expected by our customers. Plan and manage projects' communications and reporting with the customers, project team, management and all involved stakeholders
Follow-up, check, challenge, and support project suppliers' progress.
Be the point of contact for customers - ensure on-time delivery at committed quality
Support negotiations with customers regarding the contracted work with Petersen
Safety - Commitment to safety while on shop floor and throughout entirety of all projects managed
Lean - Engage in and lead continuous improvement exercises for the engineering team to ensure we are getting work to the shop floor in the right amount of time
Quality - Facilitate a cross-functional team to investigate, root cause, and implement corrective actions for any non-conformances
Delivery - Releasing work to the shop floor in a timely manner
Team - Collaborate with the shop floor (welders/assemblers/machinists) to ensure the following:
Estimate is correct
Plan is within budget, timeframe, and to the customer specification/quality requirements
Project is executed at the committed timeline to the customer
Availability: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion. Must be available and willing to work overtime as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

General Purpose
Create, revise, and update engineering standard that affect all levels of distribution systems design for the company. Work with other internal groups to technically evaluate external suppliers and manufacturers, and their material to ensure material integrity and reliability. Responsibilities
* Support procurement in efforts to increase material redundancy and resolve material shortages.
* Collaborate directly with suppliers to foster strong business relationships.
* Evaluate suppliers' ability to manufacture material effectively and reliably.
* Review manufacturer drawings to ensure that they conform to internal specifications and standards.
* Develop and maintain publications describing material, material specifications and installation of material.
* Ensure that all publications and materials comply with all applicable federal, state, and governing body (e.g. NESC) regulations and requirements.
* Lead or assist in investigations into equipment failures, ensuring root causes are identified and necessary corrective actions are implemented to prevent future failures.
* Pursue, analyze, pilot, and review new technologies for the purpose of cost reduction, reliability improvement and wildfire mitigation.
* Provide field support to address issues related to equipment, standards, and compliance.
* Collaborate with field teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure safe and efficient operation.
* Review joint use applications, pole sizing requests.
* Provide recommendations for the use of material based on specific applications.
Requirements for the position, at Engineer I level, include the following:
* Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college/university.
* Understanding of the role of governing body rules, regulations, and requirements in engineering standards.
* Understanding of the benefit of recognizing material failure modes and their detection.
* A fundamental understanding of civil, , transmission, and distribution system layouts, including their key constituent components.
* Understanding the role of troubleshooting distribution, transmission outages, with respect to material failures.
