Responsibilities: Duties include (but are not limited to): Lead the definition of incremental features (ex: essential characteristics, accessories, alarms, etc.) for our new SEALM (Systems Eng Application Lifecycle Management) tool, specifically Jama Connect. As part of feature development in SEALM, lead the following activities: Gather initial stakeholder inputs and existing best practice implementations across key product teams Define a draft “standard work” proposal (process definition, training package, and proposed tool configuration including formal change requests). Submit formal change requests for implementation and ‘shepherd' through deployment Create a summary explaining the triage (when we enforce standard work, when do we accept local practices as appropriate “tailoring”) Create and deploy training in each feature After initial deployment, monitor user requests for enhancements, and iterate steps 5 to 8 above for each request Work with SEALM design lead to identify cluster of features that have similar implementations. Develop an explanation of how the cluster of features works Some features depend on the specific country list in scope (languages and regulations are required for that country). Under the direction of the Tool Room/Fabrication Manager, the Manufacturing Engineering Technician will assist with setting up CNC mills, troubleshooting, training production personnel, work towards Continuous Improvement of existing products and provide technical support to the operations team as needed. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum's Customer 1st Philosophy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. Sets up CNC equipment for the fabrication department. Focus will be on advanced setups and historically problematic setups. Troubleshoots medium to high complexity problems through analyzing information and evaluating results to propose and choose the best immediate and long term solutions. Trains production Set-up Operators to advance their ability and raise overall proficiency. Identifies and executes meaningful improvement opportunities and promptly seeks his or her next task, while requiring minimal supervision. Maintains CNC tooling and supports preparing tooling for planned production runs. Edits programs in the language of a machines controller and manages file directories for accuracy. Possesses a strong understanding of the principles of machining to select the proper tooling and establish appropriate cutting parameters. Evaluates the sequence of machine operations, the proper cutting tools needed to attain the highest quality part in the most efficient manor, while achieving the greatest part profitability. Demonstrates strong understanding and ability to read and edit programs for identifying errors and efficiency opportunities. Observes and analyzes machining cycles to identify and implement waste and time saving opportunities. Derives work instructions or setup sheets to effectively communicate required procedure to the operations team. Successful candidates will be proficient in using typical Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc). Ability to manage and prioritize his or her schedule and workload for on time delivery of tasks and projects. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. What You Will Do Process design Coordinates implementation of manufacturing equipment, process automation, process expansions, and new initiatives. Includes project budgeting, design & interfacing with vendors of equipment and tooling, and maintaining appropriate documentation for new equipment and processes including qualification, verification, and validation. Process sustenance Identify production interruptions and establish risk mitigations. Troubleshoot equipment and processing issues in support of production goals. Determine calibration and maintenance needs of new equipment. Process evaluation Establish new product costs, develop and implement necessary SOP's, and establish processing, packaging and test specifications for products and equipment. Identify process inefficiencies and implement strategies, including automation and scale-up, to identified areas. Maintain Budgets Create and maintain project time lines and plans, accelerating where possible. Create project and/or capital budgets in cooperation with management to meet department budgets. Minimum Requirements Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Physical Science. 1 year of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications Master of Science (M.S. or M.Sc.) in Engineering, Business, or related discipline. 3+ years of medical device or pharmaceutical process experience or similar experience in a regulated industry. Technical & Functional Skills Familiar with ISO 13485 / FDA QSR / GMP / Other medical industry regulations. Ability to formulate program strategy, budgets and timelines. Solidworks and/or AutoCAD.
