Manufacturing engineering technician job description

Support manufacturing operations and related departments to ensure and continuously improve quality, efficiency and scrap reduction through process control, continuous improvement, analytical problem solving and new product introduction. Primary responsibility is creation of manufacturing instructions, fixtures, jigs and special tooling. Work directly with production to resolve problems and opportunities for improvement. Participate with cross-functional teams in projects such as new product introduction, new process development and CAPA.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Work directly with production associates to respond to technical issues, material problems and efficiency concerns
Respond and resolve abnormalities identified via quality notifications
Interpret customer drawings and specifications to identify process, tooling and standard work document needs
Support new product introduction (NPI) from preparation actions to completion of first time build process and associated documentation
Create standard work documents to support production and facilitate sound consistent assembly operations using the MS Office Suite, CAD software and any other resources required
Add and maintain work order routing comments to ensure all procedural changes are cascaded to applicable departments
Design and fabricate molds and fixtures to ensure process control and improve process cycle time
Support the implementation of new processes including training, initial monitoring, verification of effectiveness and sustainment
Monitor internal quality data and provide information to demonstrate internal performance trends and identify areas of risk
Perform periodic quality and process audits
Contributes to team effort in a collaborative and supportive manner
Maintains clean, organized work environment and adheres to all safety standards, procedures, and regulations
Adheres to all factory safety procedures and guidelines.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Active IPC-WHMA-A-620 certification required within three (3) months of hire.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
Proficient written and verbal communication skills

Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, read blueprints, drawings, and schematics

Responsibilities


Hamilton Company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician. Ideal candidates would have demonstrable technical skills gained through a combination of education and experience. The Engineering Technician will have the chance to work in a fast-paced environment on industry leading equipment with cutting-edge technology.

Engineering Technician responsibilities include:

Identify opportunities for process and yield improvements and cost reduction by analyzing manufacturing processes, defect/scrap data, and complaint data and trends. Design or modify tooling and fixtures to support or improve processes Work closely with Mechanical Engineers to evaluate manufacturability improvements for in-production designs. Complete root cause investigation on Customer Requests and close out investigation documentation Participate in the MRB team to stay up to date with internal quality issues and investigations Analyze production limitations and problems and facilitate root cause analysis Analyzes data to identify opportunities for process or product improvements. Assists in the design and fabrication of custom production equipment and work centers.



Qualifications



Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment and principles Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong mechanical aptitude Troubleshooting / problem solving ability Computer skills (MS office) Drafting/CAD skills (Creo preferred)



Education/Experience



Minimum of a high school diploma. Associates or Bachelor s degree in an engineering related field preferred. 2 to 5 years of experience in a technical field Automation or PLC experience a plus

Be a key individual providing ‘hands-on' identification and resolution of factory floor manufacturing issues.

Participate in Sales Order kickoff to verify the consistency of the original proposal and Statement of Work.

Review the Manufacturing Instructions for corrections/validity and verify tooling/equipment required for the job exists or design new tools/equipment as needed.

Lead process-related failure investigations driving the identification of root cause and corrective actions.
Manage related status communications with management and customer base.
Work to Identify and implement process/flow and tooling improvements to increase productivity, quality, and reliability. of the manufacturing cells.
Aid in design reviews as necessary to help in the design of products that will be easily manufactured. Provide insight into common manufacturing techniques and objections to design conditions that will not be realistic for a manufacturing environment.
Lead Process Failure Modes and Effects as well as post-design & pre-start-up Process Hazards Analysis incorporating identified controls into the Manufacturing Instructions.
Develop, prepare Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR's) to secure funding and execute capital projects.
What you will do as a Manufacturing Engineering Tech Assist ME's with establishing lean manufacturing in production cells.Work with production associates to identify and correct issues with process documentation.Modify/edit/update manufacturing procedures and perform document change procedures. Generate purchase/fabrication requests for production tooling and equipment.Data collection and reporting of production processes.Generation of engineering work orders.Assist MEs with the design and implementation of tooling and process improvement projects.Assist MEs with engineering analysis (failure mode and effects analysis, process hazard analysis etc.).Execution and summarization of engineering studies/experiments including coordination and oversight of engineering/pre-production builds. Make recommendations for production process improvements.Assist with production readiness reviews and project kick-off actions.Data collection and initial analysis of process data in support of ME initiatives.Fill in when needed on other functions other than the basic, including supporting production areas that do not have a dedicated ME.
