Education and Training

Job Description

The Manufacturing Operations Manager reports directly to the VP of Procurement & Manufacturing and is responsible for company operated manufacturing facilities, leading strategic execution and coordinating resources to create excellent products. The Manufacturing Operations Manager oversees Plant/Manufacturing Managers ensuring that safety is a priority and protocols are enforced, deadlines are met, standards are upheld, and operations are profitable.

Responsibilities include

+ Supervise and direct Plant/Manufacturing Managers providing guidance on operations for safety, production, maintenance, quality, and shipping.

+ Establish the strategic direction of the company's manufacturing units, setting the plan for products, processes, and plant relationships with the goal of increasing efficiency and profitability.

+ Set key indicators for evaluating performance and meet regularly with Plant/Manufacturing Managers to monitor progress.

+ Provide training for important topics such as risk mitigation, safety protocols, usage of new equipment, and industry best practices.

+ Develop a manufacturing plan and establish procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products meet or exceed established customer and company quality standards and are delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner.

+ Implement, in conjunction with Plant Manager, cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries for each individual plant.

+ Monitor overall plant performance for production, quality standards, safety and profitability.

+ Work closely with management to be sure company strategy, procedures and policies are followed in all areas including safety, compliance, training, human resources, reporting and policy.

+ Create/refine systems to minimize error and bolster productivity implementing approaches such as Lean 6, Sigma, or JIT (just-in-time).

Education/Skills/Experience:

Minimum Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years' experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related industry. A minimum of 5-years' experience managing a significant segment of a large facility is required.

Lean manufacturing and/or quality control certifications a plus.

Precast manufacturing experience strongly desired

Thorough understanding of systems and processes with ability and experience combining critical thinking with industry expertise to optimize production.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel ability.

Extensive knowledge of budgeting and financial statements.

Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience developing and conducting training and leading meetings.

Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures required.

Manager, GMP Cell Therapy Manufacturing

Precigen is advancing an exciting pipeline of novel cell therapy products designed on our proprietay UltraCAR-T platform. We are seeking a Manager of GMP Cell Therapy Manufacturing who will conduct and supervise rapid GMP production of UltraCAR-T clinical candidates. The Manager will work closely with other members of the CMC, Quality, and Facility teams to successfully plan and execute manufacturing campaigns.

Title: Manager, GMP Manufacturing Reports to: Director, GMP Manufacturing Location: Rockville, MD GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION Vigene Biosciences has been a leader at the forefront of cell and gene therapy, Adeno-Associated virus or AAV vector production, adenovirus vector production, lentivirus vector production, retrovirus vector production, plasmid production, viral vector QC and analytical services, plasmid QC and analytical services, providing services and products to support this rapidly growing and increasingly important field. The Manager, GMP Manufacturing leads the manufacturing team through production campaigns, owning the production suites, and being accountable for schedule adherence. Responsible for quality, customer service, inventory, finished goods production, material planning, cost control, cost reduction and vendor relations at the Contract Manufacturing facilities. Provides effective project management for key business growth and productivity improvement initiatives at External Contract Manufacturers. Develop and maintain business relationships with External Contract Manufacturers responsible for manufacturing TreeHouse products. Lead teams to oversee all aspects of operational performance that meets the quality, food safety standards, regulatory policies, customer service and cost requirements of TreeHouse Foods Inc. Act as a liaison and point of contact between External Contract Manufacturers and the functional departments within the Operating Groups. Ensure effective use of resources and communication of priorities by coordinating efforts between Marketing, R&D, Manufacturing and Product Supply departments.

Position Responsibilities:

Product Commercialization:

* Manage Projects through execution to ensure specifications are established prior to production and all parameters are achieved during the qualification, verification and commercialization steps. Ensure adequate technical representation (Quality, R & D and Procurement) is present during project phases.
* Project driver on key manufacturing projects, e.g., new product introduction, rationalization of facilities.

Ongoing maintenance

* Establish and report KPI's for co-manufacturers on quality, food safety, customer service and financial reporting. Develop and execute strategies to improve performance. Conduct regular Operational Improvement reviews with Contract Manufacturers to improve production efficiency and reduce production cost.
* Analyze manufacturing best practices within TreeHouse facilities and look to implement these practices into the key strategic Contract Manufacturers.

Continuous Improvement:

* Serve as the primary function for obtaining Operational savings at Contract Manufacturer facilities and ensure that savings are tracking according to expectations through validation to implementation.
* Provide focus and coordination to resolving and communicating immediate business issues (i.e., recalls, product going on hold, or other significant unusual occurrences). Manages inventory discrepancies and claims for excess losses or supplier issues between Contract Manufacturer and Corporate functions to control costs and ensure quick resolution of outstanding issues.
* Benchmark key competitive set and food industry for new technology and productivity strategies.

Capital:

* Accountable for engaging business partners and establishing a communication flow across all functional groups in the management of the capital strategy for both short- and long-term goals.

Collaboration:

* Liaison with the Operations function for internal manufacturing to align with TreeHouse manufacturing strategy to maximize leverage between Contract Manufacturing, Marketing, R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement and Logistic departments.
* Work with the Procurement function to help develop manufacturing and capacity strategies that are consistent with the current and future marketing strategies.
