Job Summary
The Production Operator is responsible for tasks associated with drug product processing, ensuring adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), customer specifications, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Tasks may vary in complexity, scope, and sequence, and the role requires recognizing issues to improve efficiency, throughput, and quality. Operators manage production schedules and contribute to troubleshooting process issues, ensuring safe, efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Production
Operate pharmaceutical production machinery, following procedures for manufacturing activities such as weighing, blending, dispensing, mixing, granulating, drying, compressing, and encapsulating.
Adhere to SOPs to ensure material purity and proper equipment usage.
Verify materials against Product ID Labels, QC release tags, and Batch Production Records.
Clean and perform machine changeovers, conduct in-process product quality checks, and document results accurately.
Follow assigned schedules and participate in debriefs to address any production issues.
Documentation
Maintain accurate documentation of manufacturing processes in batch records, logbooks, and protocols.
Complete and attach verification tickets, updating status boards as needed.
Continuous Improvement
Assist in troubleshooting, participate in improvement projects, and address deviations with the supervisor.
Safety & Compliance
Comply with all cGMP, SOP, policy, and safety requirements.
Participate in safety meetings and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Training
Fulfill all training requirements, including machine-specific training.
Teamwork & Collaboration
Share knowledge with team members, contributing to the overall success of projects and initiatives.
Requirements
Trainee - Level I Operator:
High school diploma, GED, or Associate Degree.
1-3 years of experience in a physically demanding environment.
Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
Level II Operator (OSD/Solid Dose Manufacturing Experience Required)
High school diploma, GED, or Associate Degree.
3-7 years of experience in OSD pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Forklift certification may be required for specific roles.
Level III Operator (OSD/Solid Dose Manufacturing Experience Required)
High school diploma, GED, or Associate Degree.
7+ years of pharmaceutical manufacturing experience, with relevant certification or demonstrated proficiency.
Required Knowledge & Skills For Levels II & III
Experience in solid dose manufacturing (OSD) and equipment operation.
Proficiency in areas like Compression, Granulation, Encapsulation, Coating, etc.
Familiarity with FDA regulations, GMP, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma principles.
Basic math, reading, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to participate in Continuous Improvement projects.
Physical Requirements

The Building Design and Construction Division is an award-winning organization responsible for implementing all major building, renovation and major capital renewal projects identified in the Fairfax County Capital Improvement Program, including fire stations, libraries, courts, police stations, office buildings, maintenance facilities, parking structures, human services facilities and other major infrastructure and public-private partnership projects.

The Engineering Tech Supports project management tasks including tracking budgets submissions, processing invoices, project website updates, general support and maintenance of historical databases, project awards program, project records management, assistance with presentation development, management of the Branch's Basic Ordering Agreements, support for permit expediting including management of the permit bond release process.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assistance to the Assistant Division Directors (Management M-2), Senior Section Managers and Section Managers (Engineer V), and Project Managers (Engineer IV) on small projects or portions of larger projects. Duties include assistance in developing scope of services for architectural/engineering firms or vendors, requesting fee proposals, review of fees or quotes, developing documentation for final approval, reviewing for accuracy with project manager assistance, and coordinating on-site installation through final completion and acceptance. Permit work includes delivering, logging in, transmitting pay vouchers, responding to procedural questions, and follow-up tracking for all variety of project permits including site, building, VDOT, and demolition permits. Manages the Land Development Services Construction Agreements ensuring that the final construction is performed, and projects are released from bond, including processing extension as required by analyzing the site work performed to the pro-rate the cost.
Serves as point of contact and takes a lead role for a variety of support functions that are crucial to efficient ongoing operations of the Building Design Branch. Duties include safety coordinator responsible for inventory of safety equipment and ongoing safety training opportunities, maintains staff training and continuing education records, processes the renewal of professional licenses and P-card purchases. Assists in event planning for the Division team building and recognition events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a G.E.D. issued by a state department of education; plus, four years of engineering technical support work.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $45,500 to $66,000. NATURE AND SCOPE
