    The Strapper Optimization Technician is responsible for the upkeep, reliability, optimization, troubleshooting, and repair of Samuel XP900 and VK30 strapping machines, with a primary focus on the strapper head assembly and edge protector assemblies. This role ensures machines operate at peak efficiency, minimizing downtime and supporting safe, reliable packaging processes in a lumber manufacturing and/or distribution environment. This Strapper Optimization Technician is classified as a Maintenance Level A+ position at $37.50 hourly rate. Key Responsibilities Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies; ensure strapper heads are serviced in compliance with manufacturer guidelines and regulatory standards. Preventative Maintenance: Perform scheduled inspections, preventive maintenance and optimization on Samuel XP900 and VK30 strapper heads and related components to ensure optimal performance and longevity. 100% on time completion of all PM's for both strapper heads. Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues in the strapper head and associated systems, using manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools. Repairs: Carry out repairs and part replacements on worn, damaged, or malfunctioning components including feed wheels, cutters, welders, sensors, and tensioners. Calibration & Adjustments: Set up, calibrate, and adjust the strapper head to meet operational specifications and product requirements. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and part usage; complete work orders and update service logs. Computer literacy and CMMS experience a plus, specifically SAP. Collaboration: Work closely with machine operators, production supervisors, and other maintenance staff to resolve equipment issues and coordinate machine downtime. - Have schedule flexibility to adapt to the needs of the strapper runtime and downtime PM. Must be willing to work weekends Training: Provide basic operational and maintenance training to operators regarding proper use and care of the XP900 and VK30 strapper heads. Strapper efficiency: Maintain >90% strap cycle completion on average. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required, technical diploma or certification in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial equipment maintenance, preferably with strapping or packaging machinery. Proficient with hand tools, diagnostic instruments, and basic electrical/electronic troubleshooting. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals. Strong understanding of safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures. Basic computer skills for documenting work and retrieving manuals/schematics.
