Essential Job Functions * Serves as a SME for the development and delivery of training solutions pertaining to technicians, maintainers, or operators of military platforms, systems, or weapons. * Works with a team of engineering professionals to analyze, design, develop, and deliver desktop software, virtual/augmented reality simulators, and training devices. * Works with a team of production and manufacturing technicians to provide technical guidance during all phases of development and implementation. * Participates in training conferences, In-Process Reviews (IPRs), and other required meetings. * Must be able to travel in support of data capture, device testing, and delivery. * Develops testing documentation and device user and operator manuals. * Supports production and engineering professionals by: * Troubleshooting systems and/or components. * Determining suitable replacements of OEM components with Commercial off-the-Shelf (COTS) components. * Determining functional and physical fidelity of COTS, simulated components, and software. * Advising if components are properly installed, and wires are accurately routed and secured. * Informing functionality of components, subsystems, and systems through interpretation and communication of theory of operation and practical application. * Identification of spares for logistical support of training devices. * Identifying tools, test sets, and support equipment to meet training requirements of the device. * Hardware and Software Integration (HSI). * Assisting the production team as necessary to meet schedule dates. * Develops training curriculum and courseware or other instructional products and presents them to the customer. * May lead a team of SMEs in the performance of Contractor Preliminary Inspections (CPI). * May lead a team during training device deliveries to ensure proper handling and care of training device while loading, unloading, and transporting/towing events. * Provides analysis of transportation option based on contract requirement, such as method, location, and environment. * Oversees and aids in assembly of training device to ensure proper care and installation of components. * Performs Contractor Final Inspection (CFI) once the device is reassembled at the customer's site. * Complies with International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) restrictions on export of military hardware and training services. * Complies with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and security classifications as outlined in the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM). * Must be capable of safely handling government-furnished equipment and materials. * Must be available to work a standard weekly schedule with overtime as required. * Perform other duties as assigned. The Machine Technician sets up and adjusts envelope cutting and gumming machines for safe and efficient operation in the production process. This includes the start-up, operation, adjustment to proper parameters involving close tolerances, maintenance, troubleshooting, and cleaning of the equipment. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.) Essential Position Functions: Set up and adjust various types of cutting and gumming equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Start-up, manage adjustments involving close tolerances, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Continuously monitor all assigned machines to ensure quality (cutting, gumming, count, packaging, etc.); and run speed standards are being met. Maximize machine productivity, performing timely changes between jobs and achieving and maintaining maximum run speeds. Troubleshoot operating difficulties, analyze machine operations, and make necessary mechanical adjustments to eliminate quality variations and mechanical malfunctions. Removal and replacement of straight knives and/or envelope dies based on job specifications. Ensure quality of product being packed or stacked by following written quality control procedures. Make proper size changes and adjustments to all assigned machines in accordance with estimated change times; note any delays on work order. Continuously monitor all assigned machines to ensure quality and run speed standards are being met. Relay any special instructions or important information pertaining to machine performance to next shift upon their arrival. Perform preventative maintenance inspections and ensure consistent quality production. Inspect and evaluate machine conditions and react to any gaps in actual versus expected performance. Minimize machine downtime through scheduled preventative maintenance tasks, ongoing analysis monitoring, and maintaining of equipment's condition. Work with gum and glue products that will need cleaning and replenishing. Works with oil and grease that is applied to all moving parts to ensure optimal machine performance. Maintain an understanding of paper, and gum uses, properties, applications, and settings. Notify supervisor of recurring equipment problems and corrective action taken. Provide training and assistance to coworkers, including other machine techs. Compliance with company policy including safety rules and regulations.
