The Production Technician must demonstrate initiative in handling issues, be self-motivated, dependable, and work within a team environment. Primary Responsibilities: Responsibilities and duties of a Production Technician include but are not limited to: * Work 12 hour rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 environment. * Starting and shutting down equipment and processes. * Monitoring and adjusting equipment and plant process operating parameters. * Correctly performing valve line-ups. * Preparing equipment for maintenance work including lock-out-tag-out. * Correctly and safely permitting maintenance work. * Professional judgment for operating the facility safely, reliably, and efficiently at all times. * Procedure development and training of new employees. * Effectively communicating with our customers and suppliers when required. * Other duties as assigned. The Production Technician must be able to perform basic troubleshooting and recognize when to escalate matters when more experienced specialists must be called in for support. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: * High School Diploma or GED equivalent. * 2 years Production Operations experience or Associates Degree with previous internship in Plant Operations * Strong interest in and experience with electrical and mechanical systems. * Have a working knowledge of computers and typical computer programs (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft applications). * Proficiency with a variety of hand tools, meters, instrument calibration equipment etc. * Working knowledge of electricity, electrical systems, and motors. * Must be able to climb ladders and steps, lift up to 50 lbs., and work at heights. DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES: · Analytical Instruments: o Operate the NIR, Aw meter, Computrac moisture analyzer, calipers, mycotoxin test equipment, pH meter, laboratory weigh scales, vacuum chamber for seal checks (PC), thermometers and other equipment as added. · In-Process Sampling and Testing: o Completes all routine tests required for either Processing side or for Packaging side · Quality Hold and FIFO Program: o Know and be able to place materials and product on Hold in JDE and physical Hold, and complete Nonconformance and Hold report. · Business Systems: o Enter data collected from routine tests into IQS software o Knowledge and proficiency in all Alphia Business Systems as relates to Position · Food Safety and Sanitation: o Know and follow basic GMP requirements o Know and monitor HACCP compliance in-Process. o Perform verification checks of metal detectors and magnets in area of responsibility as specified in Quality Checkpoints. o Assist with product changeover cleaning and sanitation; perform inspections required before product startup. · Microbial Testing: o Pull finished product samples for product release testing. · Regulatory Requirements: o Pull samples for testing as required in product specifications. · Communication: o Informs operators and shift supervisor of testing results o Communicates Quality concerns and Quality status to the following shift. Responsible to follow established procedures to ensure that Alphia, Inc. produces safe, quality food, meeting all governmental regulations. Other duties as directed or assigned.
