The Production Engineer is responsible for insuring the accuracy of all product specifications for all print production orders. Examines specifications and validates material, tooling and processes in order to produce products conforming to the customer requirements. Confers with department heads, research and development and production personnel to develop or confirm information regarding various elements and determine factors that affect performance. Compiles and analyzes feedback from multiple departments to maintain current & accurate specifications. Essential Functions: * Maintains product specifications utilizing the print management system. * Maintains detailed technical knowledge of Phenix Label Company's manufacturing capabilities and constantly increases knowledge on the changes and advances of the label and packaging industries. * Maintains an understanding of flexographic and digital printing, processes, tools, services and materials to ensure accurate and current product specifications. * Analyzes recommendations for changes to product specifications, and documents valid changes as necessary. * Verifies appropriate QC checks are identified for each specification based on product type, print process, and any customer requirements. * Communicates product changes throughout the manufacturing process. * Performs on a cross-functional team with the Estimator to generate RFQ's along with providing backup as necessary. * Completes any reasonable request by management necessary to effectively operate the department/company. * Suggests improvements to procedures, and acts to improve timeliness or reduce costs. * Ensures adherence to all quality control processes and procedures. Skills and Experience Required: * Individual must be able to work independently with minimal guidance required. This implies good time management, planning/organization, and decision-making skills. * Individual must be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people in a wide variety of settings, possessing strong communication skills, maintaining flexibility, objectivity and a capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. * Active involvement in Phenix Label Company's vision statement, five core values, and non-negotiables. * Participation and support of 5S initiatives and activities. * Previous flexographic experience in estimating, planning or engineering preferred. * Knowledge of packaging materials and processes used within the packaging industry. * Ability to identify specific materials, adhesives, coatings & inks used in product development. * Experience in estimating and quoting for package printing presses and processes. * Experience in multiple print processes to produce accurate RFQ's & manufacturing maps for all product types. * Knowledge of testing equipment used to establish product performance standards within our industry. * Experience with our current MIS system to manage product specifications and production maps. * High school diploma / GED / or equivalent required, degree preferred. * Individual should possess strong mathematical skills. * English language required. Short distance walking of 5-15 feet on a periodic basis during the shift, depending upon the position assigned. Frequent stooping, bending, walking, carrying, and lifting: Job requires lifting and stacking of banded door panels to various levels. Maximum required individual lifting limit is forty-five pounds. Must be able safely work with another team member to carry or lift door panels in excess of forty-five pounds. Frequency of lifting and carrying is job task dependent. REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: The production technician supports many functions for the audio visual team. They support the following events: Mission Command Training, (Joint, CORP, Division, and Brigade) War Fighters (Joint Operations, CORP, Division, and Brigade) they also coordinate with the Command Information Center for Video Teleconferences set up Senior Mentor Conferences workshops. These are either supported at the exercise unit (worldwide) location or here at Ft. Leavenworth. All Seminar Classes, After Action Reviews, Combine Arms Rehearsals, Battle Update Briefs, and Media Engagement Events are recorded. Also the production technician takes many still photos and videos of the above events. Any and all of these products are used by the army in their training of the units. The production technician places these products into a take home training packet that can be used by the exercised unit and the Operation Group back in Ft. Leavenworth. They also have to edit, cut and provide a DVD or CD of the above products to the Army so that they can review and use them in an informed manner when training an exercised unit. At Ft. Leavenworth the production technician is tasked to help set up the team conference rooms for classes and briefings. The production technician also sets up LCD projectors and computers throughout the team building to support training on the teams. High School Diploma. Required to apply for DOD secret level security clearance and possess U S passport. DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Able to work with Adobe CSS suite, Microsoft Office, and worked with editing videos and operating digital video cameras and 35mm digital cameras. The Senior Casting Technology Manufacturing Engineer provides technical leadership for SX or equiax investment castings across the value stream. You will partner with suppliers and cross-functional teams to drive root cause problem solving, improve producibility, increase productivity, and deliver on business objectives.
