Work with production planning and engineering to issue gage packages for standard and prototype work orders. Clean, inspect and log gages into GageTrak program as they are returned from production. Work closely with Supervisor to achieve monthly calibrations and maintain gage database. Assist with the calibration and repair of various gages, test equipment and other measuring devices. Work from blueprints, specifications, drawings, etc. to ensure that purchased materials, manufactured parts, components and products, process operations, testing and documentation are in compliance with established specifications, standards and practices. Select and set-up testing and analyzing equipment and use precision measuring instruments to verify acceptability of dimensions, function, surface finish and hardness. Visually examine work for acceptable appearance. Report discrepancies via discrepancy reports to production, quality and manufacturing engineering personnel and supervision for disposition and corrective action as required. Perform inspections (including 1st article) on purchased and manufactured parts. Perform data entries into computer programs (Oracle & GageTrak). Understand and perform basic SPC. May perform work of other classifications in Quality and other departments as required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Minimum High School Degree or equivalent. 2-3 years of experience with QA/QC procedures, specifications, sampling methods, precision measuring and testing equipment. Proficient in usage of plug gages, micrometers, calipers, air gages, ring gages, thread plug and ring gages, upright indicators, laser micrometers, comparators, and surface measuring equipment. Experience working in a manufacturing environment involving machining and assembly operations. Able to read and interpret part drawings with an understanding of geometric tolerancing. Skills and Abilities: • Must train and qualify to use micrometers & calipers. • Must train and qualify on all of the following: o Grain size analysis o Tensile, Yield and Elongation Testing o Rockwell Hardness Testing o Cleanness Testing of LWC o Micrometer Dimensional Inspection o Dimensional Inspection - AutoCAD Microscope o Visual Inspections of each work station including measurements o Spectrometer Analysis + Calibration + Service o Gas Analyzer Analysis + Calibration + Service o Burst/Pressure Testing o Eddy Current Testing including set up and troubleshooting o Cut and prepare test samples o Must be familiar with power tools: table saw, band saws, polishing wheels, & lathes • Must gain knowledge of ISO 9001 - current standard. • Computer programs: SAP, Microsoft Office, Access, SQL, Excel & Word. • Must gain knowledge of Copper Tube production process: casting, drawing, finishing, annealing. • Must gain knowledge of product testing: grain size analysis, microscope, chemical analysis, tensile testing, Rockwell hardness testing, Eddy Current Testing, Dimensional Measuring, Oxygen & Hydrogen Gas Analysis, Cleanness testing. • Must gain knowledge of Equipment Calibrations and data basing. • Must be willing to work weekends when required. Overtime is required. • This position is assigned to 2nd shift and may be required to cover 3rd shift as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities: • None. Physical Demands and Work Environment: • Fast-paced working environment, extremely hot at times; must always wear hearing, eye, & foot protection. Position is inside a manufacturing facility with a casting & annealing furnace, heavy machinery, cranes, & forklifts. • Must be able to walk extensively during the workday and stand for extended periods of time. • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods. • Computer work.
