Hourly Rate/Schedule Operator hourly pay at $18.50 hourly. Work Schedule - Monday thru Thursday - 10 hr. shifts; Overtime on Friday as needed. Job Purpose The Operator at AkzoNobel will execute assigned production tasks in accordance with procedures, to ensure right levels of HSE, Quality, Service and costs.
Key Responsibilities
* Takes ownership of production assets and ensures they are operated safely and as per established procedures, guidelines and industry good practice.
* Performs daily production-, preventative maintenance-, process data collection and administration tasks as per procedures and control systems.
* Reports safety, quality or other issues related to products or production processes to Team Leader / Shift Supervisor.
* Ensures all (shift team) production targets are met whilst ensuring the appropriate quality standards are maintained.
* Issues CAR, respectively Hazard report when any relevant issue is noticed, regardless location or responsible department.
* Provides progress updates to the Team Leader / Shift Supervisor.
* Attends and contributes to meetings.
* Contributes to the investigation of HSE or quality issues for eg: customer complaints, reject batches or other quality related issues.
* Participates in Continuous Improvement activities & programs for HSE, Quality, or other as may be assigned from time to time. Contributes to colour adjustment activities, where applicable, in line with agreed procedures and control systems.
* Is familiar and complies with all the applicable corporate as well as site and laboratory policies/procedures with regard to personal conduct, HSE and Product Safety & Regulatory Affairs (PSRA) standards.
Key Activities
* Transfer completed products into containers of various sizes and types (1 qt cans to tankers). Identify and apply the correct information on the containers and or proper documents while following all fill off and safety procedures
* Fill off approved batches ranging from 1 gallon to 5000 gallons into the proper shipping containers
* Measure the amount of product into the correct container for proper yield, by weighing and/or measuring the weight of the material in the containers with the tools provided
* Once containers are filled and all openings are closed and tightened, check for leaks around the ring, bungs, and chimes
* Properly complete the batch ticket as instructed, label all containers, and number them in the sequence they were filled off
* Once the batch ticket has been approved and signed by the supervisor, send the containers to the shipping department along with the batch ticket
* Properly dispose of filters; wash out the pump; wash the tanks, filter housing, and hoses with the appropriate cleansing material
* Properly label and stage all cleaning material in proper areas
* Properly label and stencil all containers to satisfy customer and shipment requirements
* Perform area housekeeping duties per expectations
* Other duties as needed to complete production process
Job Requirements
Prior Manufacturing experience desired and Prior experience working in a paint manufacturing facility preferred!

Our Team
GP's Big Island, VA containerboard mill produces the paper used to make boxes. Half of the production is made from 100% recycle fiber and the other half uses about 25% recycle fiber. In 2015, a $50 million upgrade enabled the production of a higher return product. The mill employs approximately 330 people. Production Operators work a 12 hour rotational shift schedule, and will work both days (6am to 6pm) and nights (6pm to 6am), with as little as 48 hours between days and night shift. Production Operators work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
This position's starting pay is $23.54/hour (with +$1.08 shift differential for nights) and includes paid time off, potential to earn quarterly bonuses, overtime, healthcare, 401k, and additional benefits!
What You Will Do
Perform operator care duties and minor maintenance tasks to include but not limited to lubrication duties
Work throughout the mill to safely meet production and quality goals

Second Shift: 6pm-6amA Day in the Life:
Comply with all safety requirements resulting in zero safety violations. This includes participating in all safety related activities such as safety talks, behavioral based safety observations, audits, etc.
Operate, monitor and troubleshoot equipment used during daily manufacturing
Perform changeovers and disassemble, assemble, and clean machinery
Understand and execute daily production run schedules, resolve quality issues, and report any unresolved issues immediately
Stage packaging area, manually lift and load 55lbs or more of material into equipment, bag/box finished product and prepare for shipment and distribution
Operate forklift to transport raw materials and finished product to designated areas
Operate hand tools to effectively degate or deflash materials
Empty trash and waste into compactor or dumpster
Raw material management including organizing, handling, weighing and measuring
Follows standard operating and LOTO procedures for all assigned tasks
Performs all standard QC tests and accurately record production data
Performs equipment maintenance tasks (PM'S, troubleshoot, repair, etc.), where applicable.
Maintain a clean work environment and all tools and equipment are in the proper location and storage units.

Responsibilities

The Process Technician is responsible for supporting the manufacturing operations by helping to troubleshoot equipment and process problems in order to improve the safety, quality and productivity of the shift/plant. The Process Technician should be proficient with the production platforms of the operation and proactively work to increase the safe operation of equipment, the skills of manufacturing employees and improve processing techniques and productivity. The Process Technician should ensure that proper maintenance is completed by Line Operators and DST's and assist as required. This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and weekends as required. A Process Technician reports to the Production Supervisor.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain a safe working record and environment
Support training for all employees on the shift regarding the areas of safety and quality, as well as integral job functions
Immediately communicate unsafe conditions, acts or injuries to Production Supervisor
Support Production Supervisor by following and enforcing proper ADS policies and procedures
Perform daily inspections of all equipment with an emphasis on safety, heater temps, backpressures and processing parameters
Troubleshoot process and mechanical problems and perform repairs and adjustments to meet production needs
Assist with Preventive Maintenance program as required
Meet ADS and AASHTO quality specifications for all products produced
Practice proper forklift operation and preventive maintenance
Maintain ability to operate various production lines and processes effectively
Maintain and build job skills through company training programs
Expedite product changeovers in an efficient manner
Maintain facility housekeeping
Understand and practice ADS CORE VALUES

The Quality Technician conducts detailed inspections of fabricated parts, in process control inspections. Conducts audits of packaged, staged and loaded shipments to ensure compliance with Ply Gem quality requirements and specifications.

Job Summary:

Summary/Objective:
The HVAC Start Up / Commissioning Technician will support field trade teams and/or third party contractors and oversee and direct maintenance and/or personnel and processes critical to the safe and efficient completion of tasks. Must have ability to effectively survey any repairs needed, create a repair scenario and effectively implement scenario. Background in Controls or HVAC.
Essential Functions:
* Assist in the Set up and implementation of HVAC systems, starting them up and successfully programing them
* Work with the multiple clients to schedule and successfully perform assigned tasks
* Supervise tasks and projects assigned
* Investigate, evaluate, and recommend changes and modifications to improve safety
* Maintain inspection, repair, and preventative maintenance records
* Manage employee time records and daily activity reports
* Participate in safety inspections, job safety analyses, and safety meetings
* Testing of new equipment / repair equipment to design specifications

Required:
* 5+ years of experience in the HVAC trade field; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
* Previous experience in an operational and customer facing role
* In-depth knowledge of two or more of the following disciplines: plumbing systems, electrical systems, HVAC Cooling and ducted air systems, general construction practices, generator systems, and controls systems
* Excellent building services knowledge
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Quality Technician conducts detailed inspections of fabricated parts, in process control inspections. Conducts audits of packaged, staged and loaded shipments to ensure compliance with Ply Gem quality requirements and specifications.
* Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment
* Responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and reporting all assigned activities and finished goods to ensure quality
* Ability to submit clear, concise, and accurate reports of inspections, audits, test results, job site visits and delivered goods
* Ability to conduct tests using a variety of tools and equipment
* Responsible for preparing daily quality control activity summaries
* Ability to assist in developing and implement objectives, plans and priorities to achieve quality control objectives in a timely manner to meet deadlines
* Communicates with Quality Manager on methods and problem-solving procedures to successfully meet deadlines
* Assists and periodically delivers internal external audits
* Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area
* May be assigned additional projects or duties as designated by Team Leader
* Ability to complete and present basic Root Cause analysis
* Inspect all incoming raw materials per inspection plan
* Record and maintain receiving inspection results
* Completes first article quality reports
* In-Process Verification of calibration tools for all inspection test equipment and tools
* Maintains gage calibration database and records
* Perform product test and records results during product manufacturing
* Ensures adherence to production practices and product quality standards
* Assists in the documentation of and resolution of nonconforming material and process discrepancy
* Evaluate product to determine if they are acceptable
* Perform start-up and changeover audits to verify that the product will meet specifications
* Proficient at using Microsoft office
* Perform Test Water Wall duties with loading and unloading units into the test wall and perform failure investigation as needed

Primary Purpose:
Under the direction of the Quality Supervisor is responsible for executing required functions of the quality department to assure product safety and quality. Prepares, reviews, and audits quality information according to established quality assurance plans. Additional responsibilities may include Hold for Inspection (HFI) sampling, corporate and plant project support, data collection for Customer Complaints and British Retail Consortium (BRC) certification initiatives. Comply with safety policies and practices while maintaining a safe work environment and inspection equipment (labs).
Shall understand the Food Safety Policy, GMP's, HACCP Principle and Food Safety Standard.
Assist with the HFI process to include documentation, production accounting, disposition, rework activities, AQL or sampling, and the HFI areas.
Perform daily quality records review of the continuous verification process as required.
Perform audits of various quality systems as required.
Assist in the maintenance of quality function documentation such as forms, instructions, training guides, as well as records for Food/Product Safety & GMP compliance in accordance with record retention policies & requirements.
Attain proficiency and qualification in all quality checks.
Perform incoming material inspections and verifications as required.
Assist in the coordination of SMA's with the production team as necessary including collect and organization of relevant data.
Assist in quality functions required for commissioning activities.
Establish and maintain 5S and a high level of housekeeping standards.
Perform successfully in a self-directed work team environment.
Support Plant and Corporate projects which require data collection and analysis.
Assist in new hire training as required.
