I managed the store alone 8 hours a day, and had a lot more responsibility and was confident in my ability to keep the store clean., run all the reports every night, and count all money made each day and then close and lock up the store
My boss yelled at me often.
that I got to be alone during my shifts
A little bit higher pay than competitors
There is a massive failure of management from the COO down. The company strategy is not clear and at times it seems there is not one at all. There is little room for advancement. Everyone is overworked and burnt out. The employees have made this clear in several surveys but management is not taking steps to make it better. We are constantly denied when we request additional help. Upper management pins all the problems on low level management as scapegoats. There main focus is Diversity and Inclusion which would be fine, but the problem is that they are doing it to fill quotas tied to bonuses all while treating their current employees like dirt.
They have a pension in addition to a 401k
Lots of refinery locations for networking
company culture, lacks diversity, rigid work structure, no flexible work schedules, no remote work, limited collaboration, corporate office is in rural Ohio
High Compensation, Pension and 401k
Great exposure to talented people and a variety of work.
The large size of the company means that administrative tasks including promotions come slowly.

That 3rd floor of every building in marathon petroleum corporation is connected to communicate and relax with every one
I've never read Huck Finn but I know mostly what it's about and I can't say I can relate. Although you do deal with different types people all the time
I love traveling all the time. It's always different and the weather makes it not boring for one min. Places to visit would be St. Louis, Memphis, and on the Ohio river would be Louisville!
Well there are many different companies that have towboats. AEP, Agrichem, Enterprise, Florida Marine, and Kirby are just a few river barge companies. For Marathon you have to apply online when they have the deckhand position open, which is kinda not so often lol but I'm pretty sure they are about to start hiring deckhands soon I think..
Normal work day consists of a lot of cleaning! Line handling and throwing is a pretty big part. And when out on the barges you're messing with winches and wires all day. Got the job mainly through family because they have all been cooks for marathon.
