The successful candidate will lead material procurement processes, procedures, and personnel in support of the Carson and Wilmington operations, which have a combined refining capacity of 363 KBPD.
This role oversees a team of six (6) Commercial Sourcing Advisors, managing approximately $127 million in indirect annual spend across operations, routine maintenance, turnaround, project, and facilities management workstreams.
The position reports directly to the LAR Supply Chain Director.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervises the activities of the Supply Chain organization and implements effective execution of strategies, initiatives, and procedures related to the sourcing, contracting, and materials management activities of the assigned business components.
* Leads and participates in the identification, development, implementation and effective use of systems and processes to provide continuous improvement to activities associated with procurement, contracts, and materials management.
* Possesses strong understanding of Supply Chain procedures and policies, sourcing and negotiation strategies, total cost of ownership, resources for risk mitigation, and day-to-day operation of procurement systems.
* Provides leadership in driving Supply Chain objectives.
* Interacts with corporate and business component personnel, suppliers, and contractors to maximize procurement and commercial opportunities and provides support to the various system users to ensure the procurement systems and business processes are operating at peak efficiency.
* Manages Supply Chain support of multi-organizational business partners.
* Maintains strong relationships with key business partners and Supply Chain leadership to ensure short- and long-term goals, strategies and initiatives are aligned, communicated, and implemented.
* Negotiates with suppliers and contractors to ensure that commercial initiatives, strategies, programs, and contracts are communicated, implemented, and maintained for key spend areas.
* Develops and executes strategies in collaboration with key business partners, suppliers, and contractors to pursue and implement opportunities by leveraging volume and maximizing value delivery.
* Establishes organizational goals and metrics and leads direct reports in delivery.
* Ensures direct reports are trained and operating per Supply Chain and Company policies and procedures and provides developmental guidance to achieve best value for business partners and Company.
* Manages workforce issues including performance management and compensation processes, career development, competency assessment and succession planning.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree required.
* Ten (10+) years' relevant experience is required.
* Knowledge of procurement processes, SAP and Ariba systems, and Microsoft Office products preferred.
* Prior leadership, field and industry experience preferred.

INDICATIVE DUTIES:
Installs, overhauls and maintains all sizes and types of power circuit breakers, switches, motors, transformers and other electrical power plant equipment. Tests for and locates faults on control, power and lighting circuits; potential and current transformer and switchboard wiring; motors and starters; and similar devices on AC and DC circuits. Assists and instructs junior employees in work procedure and safe work practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* GED or High School Diploma.
* 5 years of experience in the electrical field.
Knowledge of:
* Theory of electricity as related to installation and maintenance of electrical equipment.
* Materials, methods, practices and tools used in installation and maintenance of transformers, oil switches, regulators, motors, generators, switchboards and associated equipment.
* Safety rules and regulations and first aid procedures.
Ability to:

AES Huntington Beach CCGT - Environmental Manager
AES Southland is a subsidiary of the AES Corporation. It has five operating businesses across two physical locations in the City of Long Beach, CA, and the City of Huntington Beach, CA, respectively. The AES Alamitos site in Long Beach includes a conventional once-through cooling (OTC) natural gas-fired power plant, a combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant, and a battery energy storage facility. The AES Southland Environmental team is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Compliance Manager with expertise in California environmental laws and regulations for the Huntington Beach site. Reporting to the Southland Environmental Manager and collaborating closely with other members of the Southland Environmental Team, the Environmental Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all environmental compliance obligations for AES Southland are met diligently and timely.

Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the environmental compliance program for the AES Huntington Beach CCGT plant, ensuring compliance with all issued permits and applicable local, State, and Federal environmental laws.
* Work closely with the environmental staff at the Huntington Beach OTC facility to ensure sitewide compliance with all applicable shared environmental permits and requirements throughout the site.
* Ensure the facility-specific environmental compliance matrix, calendars, and all environmental permits are current and accurate, and that all facility systems and processes comply with permit conditions.
* Serve as a technical expert on environmental compliance at the site and deliver effective compliance instructions, guidance, support, and training to plant personnel.
* Provide environmental compliance support or leadership to various OpEx and CapEx projects across AES Southland, as needed.
* Report promptly on environmental deficiencies or excursions, actively lead or assist in investigations, and offer sound mitigation and corrective action recommendations and support.

* Prepare quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc internal environmental and sustainability reports for various departments within the company.

The Director Pricing and Commercial Operations is a significant, cross-functional role that collaboratively partners among the US Hospital Business Unit Commercial Team, Account Management, Finance, USMA, PGS, etc. to maximize the performance of the US HBU business and deliver on the organization's strategic goals, objectives, and commitments.
WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE
The position is primarily an Individual Contributor that is a highly engaged member of the US Hospital portfolio Triads* (with a Portfolio Director and PGS Demand Planner) and for providing leadership/support to the Specialty Portfolio Lead by delivering holistic summary guidance/perspectives across all of his/her portfolio segments.
*Note: Leadership reserves the right to vary Triad alignments as necessary to meet business needs.
The Triad will work collaboratively and creatively to maximize the performance of their assigned portfolio, positively impact long-term profitability of US HBU, and meet the needs of customers and patients. The position may also be responsible to directly or indirectly lead projects / initiatives to develop tools and reports to analyze data in an environment that is conducive to personnel development and achievement.
The successful candidate will be self-driven with strong business acumen and can-do attitude; demonstrate the ability to interface, communicate effectively, and build relationships with all levels within the organization; and be highly focused on driving effectiveness, efficiency and continuous improvement by enhancing and improving the analytics capabilities within US HBU. supporting the Go-To-Market process by leading market analyses and developing pricing/strategy recommendations for new product launches, private label launches, return to markets and line extensions within his/her assigned portion of the portfolio.

Operations Research Engineers may help develop planning, blending, scheduling, and process models for refinery engineers. The models are used to optimize crude oil purchasing, refinery production, blending and finished product scheduling, and optimization of refinery production. Typical college co-op assignments include: validation of production data and mass balancing, process modeling, and development of graphical interfaces of refinery process units.
Environmental Engineers work on projects that involve the compliance of the entire refinery, and you will be exposed to the majority of process units in the refinery. You will be applying the engineering principles and calculations to various environmental projects and will also give you a broad knowledge of the various environmental laws that are applicable to refineries and what it takes to maintain compliance with those laws. Past projects/duties include: perform process calculations for the Risk Management Plan, including taking physical surveys of refinery process units; work on various process engineering projects within a Wastewater Treatment Plant; participate in inspections and/or testing that is conducted by federal, state, or local officials.
Products Control / Economics Engineers may work on a wide array of projects including operations, blending, and refinery economics. You will gain an understanding of how a tank farm is operated and how gasoline and other products are prepared and shipped to customers. In addition, you will gain some exposure to the overall economics of the refinery and how operating decisions are made based upon these economics. Past projects/duties include: analyze refinery process flow data and compare to recommended optimum levels, this will help in identifying equipment failures which cause variances in capacity from the optimum levels; update information on gasoline blends and tank samples in preparation for an annual blender waiver audit; develop applications to better present process data for refinery operating decisions.

Responsibilities: As a Mechanical Engineer at a Marathon refinery, you can expect to become familiar with industry codes and best practices, build critical thinking skills, and gain an understanding of how all engineering disciplines work together as a cohesive team. You will also gain knowledge of various aspects of a refinery by working with a team of professionals who run a specific portion of the refining process. Most often, Mechanical Engineers will have an opportunity to work on more than one area of the refinery, leading to a broad understanding of how the plant operates. Finally, you will have the opportunity to expand your written and verbal presentation skills in a professional work environment.
The majority of Mechanical Engineering co-ops and interns enter into the following positions:
Area Refining Engineer/Project Engineers develop and use project management skills to create project scopes, estimates, and schedules. Once a project is developed and approved, you, as the project manager, will oversee the design effort and assist in the construction process. MPC will provide training and educational opportunities to help you develop your knowledge of other engineering disciplines. We are committed to developing engineers into professional project managers who can successfully manage projects of all sizes.
Reliability Engineers support the refinery's Maintenance Department through design and development of equipment related improvements. Such improvements include root cause failure analysis, optimization of maintenance programs in rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, etc.), and troubleshooting fixed equipment (refinery pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems, etc.). Reliability Engineers will also be continuously challenged to find new technology in design, materials and repair methods to achieve refinery goals of longer running times at lower costs.
Qualifications:
* Candidates must be majoring in Mechanical Engineering
* Strong academic performance
* Candidates must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
* Positions are available spring, summer, and fall semesters
* Availability for multiple work terms is preferred
* A valid driver's license is required
* Concurrent enrollment in a degree seeking program
* Military experience a plus
* MIN - $32.31 per hour / MAX - $40.89 per hour
