MPC will provide training and educational opportunities to help you develop your knowledge of other engineering disciplines. Reliability Engineers support the refinery's Maintenance Department through design and development of equipment related improvements. Such improvements include root cause failure analysis, optimization of maintenance programs in rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, etc.), and troubleshooting fixed equipment (refinery pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems, etc.). Reliability Engineers will also be continuously challenged to find new technology in design, materials and repair methods to achieve refinery goals of longer running times at lower costs. Core Mechanical Methods Intern The Natrium Core Mechanical team develops analysis methods and software for conducting mechanical analysis of the reactor core using finite element methods. The Core Mechanical Methods Intern will perform mechanical analysis of the Natrium reactor core to optimize core assembly lifetimes and improve core economics. Under the supervision of a mentor, the intern will use TerraPower's in-house developed core mechanical analysis software to run finite element simulations of core assembly shuffling patterns and predict core assembly inelastic deformations over multiple cycles of operation. The analysis will be used to improve core assembly lifetime estimates and reduce assembly discharge rates. Responsibilities * Conduct analysis of the Natrium reactor core to predict inelastic deformations of core assemblies and optimize shuffling patterns * Document analysis results and optimized core assembly lifetime estimates in a technical report Key Qualifications and Skills * The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork. * Currently enrolled in an accredited graduate or undergraduate Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering program (or equivalent). * Strong interest in finite element analysis, with previous related internship or coursework experience preferred. TEAM UP WITH US! The Engine Field Service Trainee is responsible for assisting the Senior Field Service Technician for performing certain repairs and maintenance. DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES? WHAT YOU'LL DO: * Assist a Senior Field Technician in completing assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate times and re-do metric. * Assist a Senior Field Technician in completing related paperwork and access databases required to complete job (work order, parts orders, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely. * Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations * Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with supervision from a Senior Field Technician * Assist a Senior Field Technician in providing accurate quotes and pricing estimates to the customer. * With guidance from a Senior Field Service Technician the trainee will be required and expected to familiarize him or herself with the following: Correct service report writing, DOT reports, and time entry and expense charges. * Trainee will be required to ride along and assist a Senior Field Service Technician with all aspects of the task at hand daily. * Trainee will be under direct mentorship of a Senior Field Service Technician that he or she is assigned to.
