SUMMARY
The Safety Representative position has a critical role for the company. The ideal candidate will review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and design programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, and biological agents or ergonomic factors. He or she may conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
* Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health or safety.
* Investigate accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
* Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
* Collaborate with engineers or physicians to institute control or remedial measures for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.
* Consistently update Health and Safety Plans (HASP), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) other safety documentation, and compliance objectives as needed.
* Provide safety training, toolbox talks, and ensure all applicable employees have all appropriate training certifications and experience for their respective roles (field and office).
* Conduct scheduled and unscheduled safety audits at all job sites; must have the ability to enforce safety program and report any safety violations.
* Assist with daily safety checklists for tools, equipment, and other materials and fleet as needed.
* Collaborate with the Project Manager and staff (field and office) to reduce the project's risk exposure to the greatest degree possible; ensure contract activities meet all health and safety performance criteria.
* Handle incident reports and investigations and train staff on how to mitigate future occurrences; hazard recognition and mitigation across the board.
* Promote a zero-accident environment for all company activities.
* Assist with coordination of drug and alcohol testing as needed.
* Ensure compliance with the Safety Program, OSHA, company operating policies and procedures, and provide for safe working environments for employees.
* Monitor operational compliance with contracts, and Company established policies.
* Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the executives with recommendation for resolution.
* Perform additional assignments as required by the operating needs of the company or as directed by executives.
Qualifications
* 5 years experience in preparing and enforcing safety programs.
* Experience writing Health and Safety Plans (HASP's) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA's).
* OSHA 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent and maintain competency through 24 hours of formal safety and health related coursework every four years.
* In-depth knowledge of the construction industry, OSHA, federal, state, and city environmental and safety regulations and practices.
* Ability to do public speaking, for safety training purposes.
* Four-year college degree (or equivalent electrical construction-related work experience) preferred.
* CHST, STS, OSHA 500 all are a plus. Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC) with relevant construction safety experience.
* Must have a valid driver's license, in good standing.

Leadership & Strategy
Lead, mentor, and manage a distributed team of HSE professionals across North America.
Execute a comprehensive HSE strategy aligned with company goals and regulatory requirements.
Serve as the primary HSE subject matter expert for HSE team and site management teams.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable Canadian regulations

Program Management

Job Requirements:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Health, Safety, Environmental or related field
Minimum 7-10 years of HSE experience in a multi-site manufacturing environment
Minimum 3 years in role leading HSE team members
In depth knowledge of U.S. regulations, and industry best practices
Experience managing cross-functional teams and driving organization change across multiple locations
Strong ability to communicate in written and oral formats with diplomacy and tact
Strong analytical and project management skills
Competent in using Microsoft Office products and systems

**SUMMARY**
The Safety Representative position has a critical role for the company. The ideal candidate will review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and design programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, and biological agents or ergonomic factors. He or she may conduct inspections and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
+ Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health or safety.
+ Investigate accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
+ Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
+ Collaborate with engineers or physicians to institute control or remedial measures for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.
+ Consistently update Health and Safety Plans (HASP), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) other safety documentation, and compliance objectives as needed.
+ Provide safety training, toolbox talks, and ensure all applicable employees have all appropriate training certifications and experience for their respective roles (field and office).
+ Conduct scheduled and unscheduled safety audits at all job sites; must have the ability to enforce safety program and report any safety violations.
+ Assist with daily safety checklists for tools, equipment, and other materials and fleet as needed.
+ Collaborate with the Project Manager and staff (field and office) to reduce the project's risk exposure to the greatest degree possible; ensure contract activities meet all health and safety performance criteria.
+ Handle incident reports and investigations and train staff on how to mitigate future occurrences; hazard recognition and mitigation across the board.
+ Promote a zero-accident environment for all company activities.
+ Assist with coordination of drug and alcohol testing as needed.
+ Ensure compliance with the Safety Program, OSHA, company operating policies and procedures, and provide for safe working environments for employees.
+ Monitor operational compliance with contracts, and Company established policies.
+ Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the executives with recommendation for resolution.
+ Perform additional assignments as required by the operating needs of the company or as directed by executives.
**PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**
+ 5 years experience in preparing and enforcing safety programs, unless a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), then 3 years experience.
+ Experience writing Health and Safety Plans (HASP's) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA's).
+ OSHA 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent and maintain competency through 24 hours of formal safety and health related coursework every four years.
+ In-depth knowledge of the construction industry, OSHA, federal, state, and city environmental and safety regulations and practices.
+ Ability to do public speaking, for safety training purposes.
+ Four-year college degree (or equivalent electrical construction-related work experience) preferred.
+ CHST, STS, OSHA 500 all are a plus. CSP preferred. Bachelor's degree in safety is a + Must have a valid driver's license, in good standing.
**COMPUTER SKILLS**
+ Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel).

+ Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety devices, processes, and procedures;

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

* Present safety evaluations and coordinate with production and quality control functions at weekly owner and subcontractor meetings
* Communicate effectively with the Site Superintendent, Quality Control Manager, Government Quality Assurance Representative, OSHA, Environmental personnel, Fire Marshals, Crane Safety, subcontractors, and tradesmen
* Maintain safety records and manage all required reporting

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
* Minimum of 10 years of construction experience
* Minimum of 3 years of experience as a federal construction SSHO

* 30-hour OSHA construction safety class
Preferred:
* Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification
* Certification in the following areas: - Fall Protection, HAZWOPER 40, Lead Awareness, Blood-Borne Pathogens, First Aid/CPR, Confined Space Management (Attendant and Rescue), General Competent Person, Trenching and Shoring Competent Person, Control of Hazardous Energies, Forklift, Man-Lift, and Fire Watch Training
* Average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 4 years - Includes training for Competent Person status in at least the following areas: Excavation, Scaffolding, Fall Protection, Hazardous Energy, Confined Space, and Health Hazard Recognition, Evaluation, and Control of Chemical, Physical, and Biological Agents
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Most of the work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings, involving a diverse range of people with varying functions, personalities, and abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The role requires performing a variety of physical tasks, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and engaging in repetitive motions. It involves light work, exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, up to 15 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Close visual acuity is essential for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, reading, inspecting small defects or parts, operating machines (including inspection), using measurement devices, and assembling or fabricating parts at close distances. The position also requires occasional to frequent travel.
SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary range for this position is $100,000-$130,000 per year. Exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, education, certifications, and work location. Paid Time Off, 10 paid holidays, 5 bereavement and 10 jury duty paid leave.
