The Grounds and Facilities Keeper is responsible for the cultivation and care of all campus-wide landscape spaces and built environments to ensure the campus appearance reflects the care, fun, and high-quality standards with which Marbles operates. This position also supports facilities maintenance and upkeep throughout Marbles campus. Job Responsibilities Plant and maintain all of Marbles campus planted areas, including but, not limited to Sun Sprouts Garden, TreeTunes planting beds, the central courtyard pollinators and herb planters, Color Pop Corner planted spaces, Play Annex frontage, and other natural areas which feature fresh herbs, produce, colorful perennials, and annuals. Develop and implement seasonal planting plans that will enhance the learning and play experience for Marbles guests. Ensure that growing spaces, natural areas, and mulch beds are presentable and free of waste for guests. Execute ongoing grounds maintenance, including planting and transplanting, weeding, sweeping, and general upkeep of all outdoor spaces. Ensures proper hydration of lawns, trees, and plants using sprinkler systems, hoses, and watering cans. Assist the Facilities Manager in maintaining buildings and grounds across the campus. Utilize Marbles internal work order system to prioritize and respond to facilities tickets and provide great customer service to internal clients. Maintain an organized supply of all garden tools and materials. Regularly provides updates of seasonal grounds highlights to other teams. Perform all other duties assigned by the manager. Supervisory Responsibilities Recruit, interview, hire and train the part-time groundskeeper(s). Oversee the daily workflow of the groundskeeper(s). Oversee performance and conduct performance evaluations for the groundskeeper(s). Handle discipline and termination of team members in accordance with organization policy. Train and supervise work study students and volunteers in regular outdoor maintenance and landscape renovation projects. Ideal Experience and Skills Associate's degree in horticulture, landscape management, or a related field preferred. 2 year of experience in landscape management preferred. Strong garden knowledge and experience, with both produce and ornamentals. Strong interpersonal and verbal skills to positively engage with guests, particularly with children in the museum. Interest and ability to excite, inspire and engage children while working in a busy guest service environment. Demonstrated ability to solve problems, collaborate with a team, and provide and receive constructive feedback. Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize and communicate workflow. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to drive and operate a scissor lift. Ability to use powered and unpowered lawn, garden, and facility repair tools. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Work Environment Work primarily outdoors with exposure to high and low temperatures. Sunday-Thursday schedule with flexibility required, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Physical Demands Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and squatting. Carrying up to 50 lbs. Occasionally using a ladder and going up and down stairs. Must be able to work at heights. Lead the design, planning, and delivery of community outreach initiatives, including seasonal programs like Art in the Park, collaborating with local artists, neighborhood groups, and partner organizations to extend the Museum's reach and impact. Create and implement new programs that encourage families and multigenerational groups to engage with art together in inclusive, welcoming spaces-both at the Museum and throughout the community. Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of adult continuing education programs, including Fireside, Study Hall, Vinyl Lounge, and Book Club, to create welcoming, well-organized spaces for creative exploration and dialogue. Assist with the delivery of pre-K-12 programs, both on site and in school, by supporting the delivery of curriculum-connected field trips and outreach experiences that engage students through close looking, discussion, and hands-on art making. Manage administrative tasks related to program delivery, including artist communications, supply ordering, budget tracking, scheduling, and program documentation. Work closely with Museum staff, teaching artists, and community partners to maintain clear and timely communication, ensure program quality, and uphold equitable practices. Collaborate with the Director of Programs and Audience Engagement and Museum staff to collect data and other documentation to assess success and inform improvements. Requirements Undergraduate degree in art education, studio art, community engagement, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience Experience designing and delivering arts, cultural, or educational programs for families and multigenerational audiences, preferably in a museum or cultural institution Experience facilitating hands-on art-making activities using a variety of materials and techniques, with the ability to adapt for different ages, abilities, and settings Experience collaborating with artists and community partners to design and deliver responsive, mission-driven programs Strong organizational skills, with proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and coordinate program logistics (scheduling, budget tracking, supply orders, etc.) Strong public speaking and public program facilitation skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Collaborative mindset with the ability to effectively work independently and within internal cross-functional teams Familiarity with arts and cultural organizations in Forsyth County and the broader Triad region Ability to exercise resourcefulness and take a proactive approach to problem-solving in dynamic, public-facing environments Weekend and evening work will be required, with a regular need for Saturday and Thursday evening availability Ability to remain on feet for extended periods (standing/walking during programs) Ability to lift/move supplies and equipment ranging from 5-30 pounds (e.g., program materials) Ability to work outdoors and indoors, sometimes in varied environments (e.g., local parks) Valid NC driver's license and ability to travel locally across venues or program sites Proficiency in Microsoft Office Salary Description $45,000
