Dr. Ashley is an Adjunct Professor at the Rehabilitation Institute of the College of Education at Southern Illinois University. He founded the Centre for Neuro Skills Clinical Research and Education Foundation, a non-profit research organization. His work has been published in numerous professional and research publications and he has written several books - one entitled Working with Behavior Disorders: Strategies for Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation and another entitled Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation, and latest one Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation, 4th Edition. Dr. Ashley is interested in innovative strategies to enhance the rate and extent of recovery following acquired brain injury, designed to broaden access to treatment while reducing its cost. In addition to clinical treatment, his focus is on organizational growth, strategic development and management, and marketing and sales.

During his tenure as Chief Operating Officer, and now, as President and CEO, Swedish has evolved into the largest, comprehensive community hospital on Chicago's North Side with a well-deserved reputation for technological and teaching excellence, dedication to the community, and innovative, compassionate care. Guaccio is an accomplished senior-level hospital executive with 30 years of proven innovative healthcare management experience. In addition to his Swedish Hospital responsibilities, he is a Board Member of Upper Midwest Vizient, and Chairman of the Board of Captis-a $3 billion, 200-hospital group purchasing organization. Guaccio has a bachelor's degree in business administration and management from Eastern Illinois University and earned an MBA from North Park University.
