    Job Description MHI Ship Repair & Services is a major marine repair and conversion contractor serving the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, Maritime Administration and Commercial ship owners and operators worldwide. Our shipyard is conveniently located in the Mid-Atlantic region at the port of Hampton Roads, Norfolk Virginia. MHI is looking for an experiences Crane Operator to operate a 150-ton crane or 10-ton thru 90-ton hydraulic crane to lift, move, and position loads, such as machinery, equipment, products, and solid or bulk materials. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Inspects crane before operation and notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions. May perform some simple maintenance tasks before equipment is used. Completes checklist and monthly crane inspections reports required by OSHA & ANSI B30.5. Calculates weights of items to be moved and checks capacity of crane to ensure that the load meets manufacturer's specifications. Checks clearances, overhead lines, or any obstructions to avoid any potential for accidents or damage to personnel, building, load, or equipment. Locates and sets crane in required area. Checks ground for adequate ground pressure. If required will use proper mat. Must review permit and make sure crane is level. Operates equipment in response to hand or audio signals from other crew members. Will sometimes work in cooperation with another crane as a team effort. Obeys all safety guidelines--federal, state and company imposed -- for inspection, operation, leaving crane unattended, erecting and dismantling. Cleans and maintains crane and hoisting mechanisms. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent. Five or more years of on-the-job experience or combination of experience and completion of three- year apprenticeship program for mobile crane operators or other education programs. Certification by the North American Crane Bureau Group or the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators. Valid state CDL B license and current medical certification. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Reading and writing skills sufficient to understand written directions, applicable safety regulations and to maintain records.     Job Description JOB SUMMARY: Estimators once assigned a specific item or solicitation to estimate have overall responsibility for the development and accuracy of all parts of the estimate to include labor, materials (both Defined and Consumable), and services (including subcontractor efforts) as well as to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the bid file. SUPERVISES: N/A ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Reviews specifications and develop log and submit bidder's questions to the customer. 2. Review the specification package and develop the initial drawing print request and forward to the Estimating Department Clerical and Administrative Associate for printing. 3. Develops a subcontracting list, including both turnkey and required support contractors. Provides the list to the Subcontracting Department with a required response date for pricing. 4. Develops a complete bill of materials by item. This list is also provided to Procurement Dept. for pricing. 5. Independently develops labor estimates for all MHI capable work items to support internal make/buy decisions and to validate potential subcontractor quotes. May involve requesting estimates from trades as well as an independent estimate and use of other possible sources to complete estimating package. 6. Completed package including supporting data for all labor, material and proposed/potential subcontracting efforts are provided to the Estimating Manager. 7. Conducts shipchecks as needed to scope work. 8. Support TAR for MSMO Ships 9. Coordinates with Program Office, Contracts Department, Project Managers and Advance Planning in developing and pricing MSMO Packages. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. High School Diploma or Equivalent 2. 5 years experience, in the ship repair industry or equivalent combination of Degree from Maritime institution and on the job experience. 3. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. 4. PC skills (all MS Office Products) 5. Must have the ability to travel on occasion to include overseas. WORKING CONDITIONS Office environment and exposure to outdoor conditions. Duties of this job require sitting for long periods of time, occasional lifting up to 25 lbs., possible climbing, stooping, or crawling. Must have motor coordination skills, ability to perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly, the ability to express ideas using the spoken word and perception of speech. Will also collaborate with mental performance and performance nutrition to ensure a holistic approach to human performance. + Assist the HP program Manager and/or Coordinator in developing facility standard operating procedures, guidelines, and training protocols including the safe use of strength and conditioning equipment. + Participate in periodic meetings to review and evaluate physical training programs and identify opportunities for improvement. If a meeting occurs outside of regular working hours-unable to attend a meeting, the SCS is responsible for reviewing the information disseminated in meetings. + Participate in periodic in-service training for members of the HP staff and/or POTFF staff as appropriate. + Attend required training in accordance with guiding instructions.     Job DescriptionMHI Ship Repair & Services is a major marine repair and conversion contractor serving the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, Maritime Administration and Commercial ship owners and operators worldwide. Our shipyard is conveniently located in the Mid-Atlantic region at the port of Hampton Roads, Norfolk Virginia. MHI is looking to hire an experienced Assistant Project Manager who will serve as the primary point of contact for all matters concerning the assigned project from initial planning to project close-out ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Review work specifications, material status reports, and manpower budgets as they are developed assuring all contract milestones are met and that this essential information is being properly addressed throughout the company. With the assigned Project Manager, develop project production strategy and schedule, that facilitates a successful completion of all milestones and contractual dates. Works with other departments within the company and subcontractors to ensure that the specifications are understood, work is planned and estimates are submitted and processed in a timely fashion to meet project milestones. As assigned by the Project Manager, serves as point of contact with our customers, meets with them to establish project milestones and discuss progress, quality, or other performance related issues. Chairs production meetings assigned by the Project Manager, related to the Project during execution. Monitor project cost and schedule performance for assigned project tasks weekly, ensuring that budgets, cost, progress and projections are consistent with actual on-site productivity observations. Serves as a focal point for critical project data submitted to the customer (i.e. CFR, RCC, RTR, N-items, etc.) for production area assigned by the Project Manager. Directly assess and manage subcontractors assigned job taskings within the Project, as assigned. Work with the Project Manager to close out the project and submit the PPI or other performance related data. Assist with training of new Assistant Project Managers and Project Staff. Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or Equivalent. 5 years of Ship Repair related experience in a supervisory or management capacity is preferred. Demonstrated good organizational and communication skills. Be able to generate new work estimates based on work specifications and ship-checks. Fluent in work specification interpretation and NAVSEA Standard Items. Must have ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
