    Job Description MHI Ship Repair & Services is a major marine repair and conversion contractor serving the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, Maritime Administration and Commercial ship owners and operators worldwide. Our shipyard is conveniently located in the Mid-Atlantic region at the port of Hampton Roads, Norfolk Virginia. MHI is looking for an experiences Crane Operator to operate a 150-ton crane or 10-ton thru 90-ton hydraulic crane to lift, move, and position loads, such as machinery, equipment, products, and solid or bulk materials. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Inspects crane before operation and notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions. May perform some simple maintenance tasks before equipment is used. Completes checklist and monthly crane inspections reports required by OSHA & ANSI B30.5. Calculates weights of items to be moved and checks capacity of crane to ensure that the load meets manufacturer's specifications. Checks clearances, overhead lines, or any obstructions to avoid any potential for accidents or damage to personnel, building, load, or equipment. Locates and sets crane in required area. Checks ground for adequate ground pressure. If required will use proper mat. Must review permit and make sure crane is level. Operates equipment in response to hand or audio signals from other crew members. Will sometimes work in cooperation with another crane as a team effort. Obeys all safety guidelines--federal, state and company imposed -- for inspection, operation, leaving crane unattended, erecting and dismantling. Cleans and maintains crane and hoisting mechanisms. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent. Five or more years of on-the-job experience or combination of experience and completion of three- year apprenticeship program for mobile crane operators or other education programs. Certification by the North American Crane Bureau Group or the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators. Valid state CDL B license and current medical certification. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Reading and writing skills sufficient to understand written directions, applicable safety regulations and to maintain records. JOB SUMMARY: The Proposals Manager maintains overall responsibility for all pre award and preproduction work, serving as a technical writer on behalf of the company and ensuring proposals are written as requested or required by customers, to include preparation and submittal of proposals, bids, production schedules, manpower and facility planning efforts prior to start of production. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Daily interface with Manager of Estimating on workload status and priorities. Work closely with program office, procurement and production to resolve problems and issues in a timely manner as they arise. Coordinate estimating efforts in support of multiple programs, LSD, LHA, DDG, FFG and LHD. Communicate status and issues with the program office on preproduction efforts. Assist with development of corporate bid strategy and themes for large multi-year contracts. Support contracts and accounting department in a variety of ways during DCAA Audit discussions. Reads and interprets work specifications, blueprints, technical manuals and design sketches to determine appropriate sheet metal process. 3. Must calculate accurately for estimating material requirements and balancing a system. 6. Locates spaces on board ship and sketch systems. 7. Notifies supervisor of any safety or equipment issues. 8.
