1979 – Opened first store, a Thriftway Market in Cottage Grove.
The company began in 1979 with a single store owned by Richard Wright, Sr. in Cottage Grove, Oregon.
2000 – Began conversion to Market of Choice name & image in response to customers asking for choices in conventional & natural products.
The first Market of Choice store outside of the Eugene area, at SW Terwilliger Blvd and Taylor's Ferry Boulevard in Portland, opened in 2002.
2006 – Opened two stores: one on Willakenzie Road in Eugene, followed by the West Linn store.
2010 – Opened store in Corvallis.
By 2011, Market of Choice had seven stores, with four in Eugene and one each in Ashland, Portland, West Linn and Corvallis.
2012 – Unveiled new central kitchen/distribution center in Eugene, paving the way for growth.
The company's 50,000 square foot commercial production kitchen and food distribution facility in Eugene opened in 2012.
2015 – Opened new store in the Cedar Mill neighborhood of Portland.
In June 2016, with the opening of a store in Bend, the total grew to ten.
2017 – Opened new store in SE Portland.
2021 – Opened new store in Medford.
